About the Opportunity
Our client is seeking compassionate and motivated
Family Preservation and Reunification Workers
to support Indigenous children and families as they rebuild and strengthen family relationships. This hands-on position provides the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by helping families overcome challenges and work toward reunification after child services involvement.
Working as part of a collaborative, trauma-informed team, you will provide wraparound therapeutic support and coaching to parents and children in a variety of settings -- home, school, and community. This role requires empathy, cultural understanding, and the ability to guide families with patience and respect as they move toward long-term stability.
What You'll Do
Deliver individualized, family-centered support plans designed to achieve reunification goals.
Provide mentorship and guidance to parents and caregivers in the home and community settings.
Work collaboratively with other program leads, social workers, and community service providers.
Help families establish daily routines and develop life skills that promote independence and well-being.
Support and coach parents in areas such as emotional regulation, communication, and parenting techniques.
Assist with documentation, progress reporting, and maintaining accurate family case records.
Participate in review meetings and contribute to team-based care planning.
Administer basic medication or first aid as required (training provided).
Maintain a culturally safe, supportive, and inclusive environment for all families served.
About You

Experience working with families facing trauma, addictions, or mental health challenges.
Strong communication and relationship-building skills across diverse backgrounds.
Ability to manage multiple priorities, stay organized, and work calmly under pressure.
Culturally sensitive and comfortable working within Indigenous communities.
Demonstrated professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical decision-making.
Qualifications
Certificate, diploma, or degree in
Social Sciences, Health Sciences, Social Work, Psychology, Early Childhood Education, Child and Youth Care, Human Ecology, or a related field
.
Minimum
2-3 years' experience
in a human services, child and family, or community support role.
First Aid with CPR Level C
(required within 3 months of hire).
Medication Administration Certification
(required within 1 month of hire).
Clear Vulnerable Sector Police Check
and
Child Intervention Record Check
(renewed every 2 years).
Indigenous Awareness
and
Trauma-Informed Care Training
considered strong assets.
Valid
Class 5 Driver's License
, reliable vehicle, and proof of insurance and registration.
Other Details
This position involves working a variety of shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Some travel within the Edmonton area is required.
The role offers the potential to transition into a
permanent position
following successful completion of the contract term.
