POSITION SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Family Well-Being Manager, the Family Intake Worker will conduct all aspects of centralized family intake at Inuuqatigiit Centre.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage referrals to Inuuqatigiit Centre programs and services
Contact each family within a timely manner to begin intake process
Meet with families at times and locations convenient to the family
Inform families of Inuuqatigiit Centre Privacy Policy/Code of Conduct
Be knowledgeable and in compliance with client complaint procedures.
Facilitate the completion of all necessary intake forms required by Inuuqatigiit Centre.
Secure all required documentation required for City of Ottawa registration for childcare programs
Review and discuss with the appropriate team all pertinent information, concerns and issues with regard to the client's entry into programs and services.
Support the maintenance of the Inuuqatigiit Centre database
Locate resources and facilitate the referral process to outside agencies
Complete data entry of client information to Inuuqatigiit Centre database in a timely manner.
Abide by the Inuuqatigiit Centre Privacy Policy and all other policies at all times.
Regularly participate in supervision meetings with the FWB Manager
Actively participate in case management meetings as requested
Provide after-hours crisis support if required and approved by the manager
Deliver and support FWB programs as needed
Maintain thorough, orderly and confidential administrative documents required by funder and Inuuqatigiit Centre (e.g. participation records, intake files, children's/youths' files);
Meet all tracking, evaluation and reporting requirements of funder and Inuuqatigiit Centre (attendance, project statistics, project targets, surveys, etc.);
Complete worker portion of funder reports accurately and on time;
Support Database Coordinator to improve systems and intake process for worker experiences
Attend staff meetings and training sessions as required
Send Inuuqatigiit Centre calendars and flyers to parents and community partners
Promote Inuuqatigiit Centre within the community;
Liaise with other service providers, programs and professionals in the community to facilitate referrals and maintain effective linkages;
Engage with various agencies and stakeholders to strengthen programs and resources for families;
Represent Inuuqatigiit Centre at partner/collaborator meetings and program-related events;
Develop materials and information needed for the effective outreach and communication with parents

Adhere to deadlines for funding reports and evaluations;
Deliver all aspects of programming according to workplan

Demonstrate stress resistance and stamina in supporting high need parents and families;
Physical ability to access three story building.
Work regular and consistent weekly hours of work.
Will be required to work additional hours for specific programming aspects (e.g. weekends and evenings)
Ensure personal safety precautions are followed at all times
Integrate Inuit culture and Language in client communications and program delivery
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Fluency in Inuktitut would be an asset
Knowledge of the needs of Inuit children, parents & families
Knowledge of Inuit and non-Inuit community services and supports
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
Ability to operate computer systems and relevant software
Strong organizational, program planning, evaluation, fiscal management and problem-solving skills.
Ability to respond effectively in crisis situations
Ability to work in a collaborative staff team environment
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
Post-secondary education in related field an asset
Minimum one-year experience working in a family-oriented program
Previous experience working with Inuit or Indigenous communities an asset.
Inuit descent required
Fluency in Inuktitut required
Knowledge of Inuit culture and community
Knowledge of the needs of Inuit children and youth and issues faced by Inuit parents
Knowledge of Inuit and non-Inuit community services and supports
Ability to operate computer systems and relevant software
Knowledge of database operations an asset
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
Ability to work in a collaborative staff team environment
Ability to function effectively in a high stress, high noise environment.
Ability to respond effectively in crisis situations
Enthusiasm, flexibility, dedication and commitment to children and families
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
Medical certification of good health
Police Record Check required in keeping with Inuuqatigiit Centre Personnel Policies and Procedures.
Driver's Licence an asset
