The Children, Youth & Families (CYF) portfolio within Addiction and Mental Health, Recovery Alberta is leading the way in creating a new program to help meet the needs of adolescents and families experiencing significant distress. In partnership with Children\'s Services and Family Supports for Children with Disabilities (FSCD) leaders, we have opened a 6 bed, community-based, transitional supportive housing program that works with families, youth and community partners to reduce time in the emergency room, improve safe and supported transitions back to parents or an alternate home environment, and address the existing gaps families experience when trying to navigate care. The Family Counsellor works as a member of the interdisciplinary team, providing direct family therapy services to the clients and families accessing the Youth Transitional Supportive Housing program. The Family Counsellor utilizes principles of family centered care within their work. Responsibilities include case-management, individual and family therapy, collaboration with community partners, and referral coordination. The position also provides frontline supervisory support, as well as develops, delivers, and evaluates an evidence-based, client-centered, family program. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. You will also provide clinical focused consultation with other programs or community resources and acts as a liaison to develop and promote preventative health programs in the community. You will collaborate with other health care providers and community service providers to ensure a continuum of care in the community.

Required Qualifications:Completion of master\'s degree in a health related field. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college. Additional Required Qualifications:Minimum of 2 years experience providing direct family counseling, preferably within an addiction and/or mental health setting. Minimum of 2 years experience in program development. Knowledge and skills in assessment, DSM-V diagnosis, and interventions such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and other evidence-based modalities. Demonstrates knowledge in Trauma Informed Care and Collaborative Problem Solving. Intermediate computer skills required. Suicide Prevention. Nonviolent Crisis Intervention. Preferred Qualifications:A strong ability to work with other professionals is essential, and experience delivering staff training is an asset. Preference will be given to those with a Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology, or Marriage and Family Therapy.
