The Children, Youth & Families (CYF) portfolio within Addiction and Mental Health, Recovery Alberta is leading the way in creating a new program to help meet the needs of adolescents and families experiencing significant distress. In partnership with Children\'s Services and Family Supports for Children with Disabilities (FSCD) leaders, we have opened a 6 bed, community-based, transitional supportive housing program that works with families, youth and community partners to reduce time in the emergency room, improve safe and supported transitions back to parents or an alternate home environment, and address the existing gaps families experience when trying to navigate care. The Family Counsellor works as a member of the interdisciplinary team, providing direct family therapy services to the clients and families accessing the Youth Transitional Supportive Housing program. The Family Counsellor utilizes principles of family centered care within their work. Responsibilities include case-management, individual and family therapy, collaboration with community partners, and referral coordination. The position also provides frontline supervisory support, as well as develops, delivers, and evaluates an evidence-based, client-centered, family program. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024.
