Your Opportunity:

Under the supervision of the Program Manager for Pediatric Consultation Liaison Clinic, and in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team, the Family Counsellor will provide assessment, treatment/case management to patients (ages 4-18 years) who have been admitted to hospital medically and have a concurrent mental health concern. In addition, the Family Counsellor provides assessment, treatment and case management to children and their families who have been admitted with an Eating Disorder. Family Counsellors utilize principles of trauma informed care, Collaborative Problem Solving, and family centered care within their work. Responsibilities include case management, individual therapy, family therapy, group therapy, collaboration with acute care partners and discharge coordination. The family counsellors provide clinical guidance and support to members of the multi-disciplinary team and promote the integration of best practice in mental health into direct therapeutic interventions.

Description:

As a Family Counsellor, you will provide assessment, diagnosis, treatment and follow-up to clients and their families. You will also provide clinical focused consultation with other programs or community resources and acts as a liaison to develop and promote preventative health programs in the community. You will collaborate with other health care providers and community service providers to ensure a continuum of care in the community.

Required Qualifications:

Master\'s degree in a health related field. Active or eligible for registration with applicable professional association or college. Additional Required Qualifications:

3 to 5 years clinical experience with supervision in a counselling. 1 to 3 years\' experience in acute care mental health with children, adolescents, and families. Knowledge and skills in assessment, DSM diagnosis, and family therapy. Demonstrates knowledge in Trauma Informed Care. Demonstrates an ability to manage workload and to complete assessments, documentation and consultations in a timely manner within a fast-paced environment. Experience working with community agencies and partners (e.g., schools). Strong computer skills, including familiarity with Connect Care an asset. Advanced family therapy skills essential. Strong ability to work with other professions and contribute positively to changes in services is essential. Preferred Qualifications:

Strong clinical skills and experience working in mental health.
