Families Forward Facilitator

Job Description

The Families Forward Facilitator provides client-centered, trauma-informed support for caregivers with children between the ages of 0 to 6. Through an attachment lens, Facilitators will provide in-home visitation support focusing on the development of caregiver capacity. With the support of the Families Forward Facilitator, caregivers will work towards identified goals to help build their knowledge and understanding around raising a healthy, balanced, and flourishing family. Facilitators support with system navigation, modeling parenting strategies, supporting in professional meetings, and other tasks that encourage the well-being of the family. Through this prevention/early intervention program, caregivers are provided the skills to navigate the young formative years of their children.


This role is 37.5 hours per week, with occasional evening and weekend availability. The position involves frequent travel throughout Calgary (mileage reimbursed), working independently in family homes, and operating from an open-concept office environment.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:




Manage a caseload of up to 20 families Provide in-home visitation on a weekly/bi-weekly basis with each family Offer sessions both virtually and in-person Build a case plan with the caregiver using a strength-based lens to identify the goals and strategies for the family Provide up-to-date, evidence-based information and strategies to caregivers Provide support with system navigation and accessing community resources Understand how culture and family history shape family dynamics Implement trauma informed and strength-based practices May support greater Family Resource Network team with program delivery/sessions as required Complete case plans within the first three months with new clients, review and update regularly Complete attendance and case notes after each session with family - ensuring accurate documentation Ensure all documentation is maintained and up to date Engage in any opportunity to continue professional development through internal and external opportunities Foster and contribute to a culture of inclusion and equity in a diverse work environment; understand and recognize that individual differences significantly contribute to YW Calgary's success Understand YW Calgary's Health, Safety and Wellness (HS&W) policies, practices and protocols; ensure work is performed safely and in alignment with YW's HS&W culture

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:




Certificate, Diploma or Degree in Child and Youth Care, Social Work, and/or Human Services Understanding of trauma informed, strength-based, evidence-based practices, as well as client

centered approaches; experience applying these in practice
Functional knowledge: subject matter expertise including exemplary understanding of child development, parenting strategies, knowledge of local service agencies, systems navigation, and referral processes Strong facilitation skills, both in-person and virtually Ability to build rapport quickly with participants; exceptional interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills Proficient computer skills First Aid with CPR Level C and NVCI Certification (required upon commencement of employment).
