The School of Business is seeking an accounting instructor for a short-term appointment. This is for instruction in the Business Administration and Post-Graduate Diploma in Accounting programs, to teach the following courses:

Management Accounting Intermediate Management Accounting Advanced Financial Accounting Auditing and Assurance

The successful candidate will join a team of accomplished business professionals in a fast-paced and internationalized school environment. The courses are scheduled for in-person delivery at the Castlegar, BC campus.

Main Duties and Responsibilities




Deliver in-person courses, Provide instruction to students Develop and deliver teaching strategies and assessments that meet course outcomes and promote learning Evaluate students, including providing timely, constructive, and meaningful feedback to students Actively contribute to the college and the school, including participating in school and program meetings Develop or update curriculum according to Selkirk College values, policy, and procedures Maintain positive relationships with colleagues and other members of college staff Protect student information Perform other duties as assigned by the School Chair or Dean

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities




Demonstrated ability to: Teach in-person course delivery experience. Develop and use a learning management system: Moodle. Work with students with diverse backgrounds and academic abilities. Teach students at the post-secondary level. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills Excellent classroom management skills Ability to contribute to school and/or college initiatives Share Selkirk's student-centred values and mission: Together, we inspire generations of changemakers through relevant, inventive and sustainable education. Excellent interpersonal skills Excellent communication skills Strong competencies in working independently and as part of a team Commitment to continuous learning Current accounting experience

Education and Experience




Canadian Chartered Professional Accountant designation or equivalent Preference will be given to applicants who also have a Master's degree in Business Administration or equivalent Preference will be given to applicants who possess two to three years' teaching experience in a post-secondary environment Industry experience in accounting is desired

This short-term position offers a potential workload of up to 100%, depending on qualifications and availability. The role may be available beginning December 22, 2025, to April 29, 2026, or upon return of incumbent, whichever comes first. Salary and Benefits are in accordance with the SCFA Collective Agreement. The salary range is $2,709.12 - $4,341.23 bi-weekly (at 100% appointment) and is based on qualifications and experience. Preference will be given to SCFA members who are on layoff status and eligible for recall, as outlined in Articles 5.6 and 5.9 of the SCFA Collective Agreement.
