NextStar Energy (NSE) is an innovative joint venture company between LG and Stellantis. It will be Canada's first large-scale lithium-ion battery production plant when it begins production at the Twin Oaks site in Windsor, Ontario. The manufacturing facility will have an annual targeted production capacity in excess of 49 gigawatt hours and will create an estimated 2,500 new jobs in Windsor and the surrounding areas.

Position Overview




The Factory Automation Supervisor plays a key leadership role in ensuring safe, stable, and efficient production operations across the assigned zone. This position oversees equipment automation performance, supports maintenance activities, and drives continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety, quality, throughput, and cost efficiency.This role requires a strong technical background, the ability to coordinate cross-functional teams, and a hands-on approach to problem solving. The Factory Automation Supervisor is responsible for monitoring production performance, resolving losses during the shift, ensuring workforce readiness, and leading troubleshooting efforts related to automated equipment and Siemens PLC-based systems.The ideal candidate demonstrates strong leadership, technical expertise in automation and maintenance, and the ability to build high-performing teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:



Ensure the production plan is met, analyzes issues with other roles, drives and implements continuous improvement activities and sustainability of solutions inside the Zone. Ensure a safe workplace, lead the Team to improve Safety in the area and enforces the use of mandated Safety tools and procedures. Understand losses during the Shift and coordinate activities to improve performance. Proactively analyze quality KPIs related to the Zone, prioritizes quality issues and properly guides Leaders & Operators. Ensure the right allocation of the people on the line, manage absenteeism, train and build teams. Possess knowledge of the broader manufacturing organization and have the ability to mobilize support groups and resources to lead and assist in problem solving activities. Actively participate and lead kaizen project activities centered on Safety, Cost, Quality and Throughput improvements and waste reduction opportunities identified through cost, inefficiencies and losses. Ensure team compliance to established policies and standards, including but not limited to safety, quality, attendance, and throughput. Supervise and coordinate daily activities of the equipment maintenance and engineering team. Plan and oversee preventive and corrective maintenance work orders by system. Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis of equipment failures. Manage spare parts inventory and procurement. Coordinate with production, quality, and process teams to support manufacturing operations. Train and mentor team members, fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement.

Minimum Requirements:



3 or more years' experience in supervision in a high-volume environment. Technical diploma or Bachelors degree Ability to work any shift and overtime as required Excellent organization, written and oral communication skills Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interface with various levels of employees within all areas of the Plant from production employees to Senior Leadership as required Ability to build effective business relationships with plant leadership and customers Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously Goal oriented self-starter with ability to lead teams Ability to coach/mentor/develop team members Must have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Must be legally entitled to work in Canada Able to up to 12 hours of work in a limited, noisy, dry space

Preferred Requirements:



Demonstrated ability to coach/mentor/develop team members Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment Experience in continuous improvement systems and lean manufacturing Experience of maintenance for equipment more than 5 years is preferred Experience of modification of Siemens PLC more that 5 years is preferred. Experience of Siemens PLC operation with 24 /7 automatic operation
