The Facilities Maintenance Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring the optimal operation and maintenance of our facilities. This position involves a combination of technical skills and hands-on experience to maintain equipment, troubleshoot issues, and ensure a safe working environment. Tasks will include performing routine and preventative maintenance on equipment, infrastructure, and grounds, as well as responding to urgent repair needs. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in facilities maintenance and mechanical knowledge. The role supports production continuity, workplace safety, and regulatory compliance.
Duties
Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of facility systems including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical equipment per the maintenance schedule.
Perform repairs and upkeep on forklifts, compressors, laminators, pasters, dryers, and other production equipment.
Monitor and maintain safety systems and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
Coordinate with external vendors for specialized repairs and seasonal services.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs.
Support insurance and compliance documentation by providing timely updates on equipment status.
Respond to facility-related emergencies and troubleshoot issues promptly.
Ensure cleanliness and organization of maintenance tools and workspaces.
Skills
High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications are an asset
Minimum 2 years of experience in facility or equipment maintenance.
Proficiency with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) for automation tasks is an asset.
Mechanical and Electrical experience with the ability to troubleshoot systems effectively.
Proficient in English for clear communication with team members and management.
Mechanical knowledge applicable to various manufacturing processes and equipment.
Familiarity with manufacturing environments and their specific maintenance needs.
Ability to read schematics for troubleshooting electrical and mechanical issues
Ability to perform building maintenance and upgrades
Physical ability to lift, climb, and perform manual tasks.
Ability to operate hand and power tools safely and effectively.
