We are looking for a highly organized and motivated leader to fill an operational facility manager role at one of our great recreation facilities. This position has a ton of breadth as you will be performing a variety of duties that will ultimately ensure the smooth running of an entire recreation facility. This might include everything from directing and supervising the daily activities of the facility and staff, to developing budgets and ensuring timely maintenance of the building. What will you do:
Direct and supervise the activities of a facility encompassing swimming pool and recreation amenities
Direct the scheduling, operation, maintenance and evaluation of janitorial work, mechanical inspections, pool filtration, water treatment, chemical feed equipment, security and general sanitation of the facility
Direct or delegate the direction of supervision, assignment of work, training, scheduling, recruitment, selection and assessment of the work of the Amenity Attendants, Lifeguards, and Labourer 1 / Pool Service Persons
Establish, in conjunction with the Buildings and Facility Maintenance Section, the preventative and scheduled maintenance program at the facility
React to emergency situations and perform First Aid, lifeguarding and safeguarding as required
Direct the scheduling, operation, maintenance and evaluation of janitorial works, mechanical inspections, pool filtration and water treatment
Supervise, train, schedule, recruit and assess work of staff in the facility
Order supplies, materials and equipment allowed for within the operating budget
Prepare and submit administrative reports as required; develop and evaluate the facility business plan and budget
Plan, assess, implement and monitor Occupational Health and Safety procedures
Other related duties as required
Qualifications
:Completion of two years post-secondary education in Recreation Administration, Facility Management, Business Management, Economics, Sociology or a related discipline
A minimum of 3 years' progressively responsible experience in the field of recreation, facilities and culture, with a minimum of two years experience in a leadership role
Skills Required for Success:
Willingness to complete and lead the applicable in-service programs
Ability to supervise and assess the training and development needs of the staff at the facility
Knowledge of pool mechanical and filtration systems is required
Ability to apply positive customer service principles to the operation and programming at the facility
Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal, customer service, organization, time management and prioritization skills required
Ability to recognize emergency situations and react accordingly
AED training required

Conditions of Employment:
Must successfully complete relevant supervisory training approved by the City of Edmonton within one year of appointment
Possession of a Swimming Pool Operators Certificate, Level II - A.A.R.F.P.
Completion of the applicable in-service programs
Possession of current Lifesaving Society National Lifeguard Award (NL) , Government of Alberta workplace approved Intermediate First Aid & CPR-C
All certifications must be kept current according to the certification organization standards
Use of respiratory protection including Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) is required for some duties included in this position
Compliance with the City of Edmonton's Code of Practice for Respiratory Protective Equipment, including medical monitoring, is a requirement for this position
Valid Alberta Class 5 driver's license (or provincial equivalent). Must obtain business auto insurance for personal vehicle use on City business
Hire is dependent on a Police Information Check including Vulnerable Sector Check satisfactory to the City of Edmonton
