Elizabeth Fry Toronto delivers gender-based, trauma-informed services and advocates for justice and equity for criminalized women, Trans, non-binary, and Two Spirit people, as well as their families. Our services are rooted in trauma-informed and harm reduction practices, assisting people at various stages of involvement in the criminal justice system.
We are currently hiring a Facilities Coordinator to manage our physical spaces, including a 32-unit mixed-use building (residential and office), leased spaces, and agency vehicles. You'll ensure our environments are safe, well-maintained, and trauma-informed, supporting the wellbeing of staff, clients, and community members.
You will also lead compliance with the City of Toronto's RentSafeTO program, liaise with external property managers, and support client housing needs in a way that reflects our values of equity, dignity, and inclusion.
Key Responsibilities: (Under review)
oManage day-to-day operations and maintenance of all owned and leased facilities
oPerform or coordinate minor repairs and supervise maintenance staff and contractors
oEnsure cleanliness, safety, and accessibility across all locations
oOversee RentSafeTO compliance for our mixed-use building, including inspections, documentation, and required postings
oLiaise with third-party property managers at two non-owned residential sites
oSupport housing staff in maintaining client housing, responding to repair needs, and building landlord relationships
oMaintain records, budgets, work orders, and vendor relationships
oParticipate in emergency preparedness, safety planning, and incident response
oContribute to agency meetings, staff support, and policy compliance
Qualifications
oEducation: Diploma in Facilities Management, BES I & II, or equivalent experience
oExperience: 2+ years of experience in property maintenance or facility coordination
oKnowledge: Strong knowledge of building systems (HVAC, mechanical, fire safety), OHSA, RentSafeTO, subsidized housing, and landlord-tenant legislation.
oUnderstanding: Strong understanding of intersectionality, criminalization, and restorative justice principles.
oTechnical: Familiarity with Microsoft 365 and maintenance tracking tools.
oSkills: Ability to navigate landlord relationships and repair coordination with sensitivity to client vulnerability and housing insecurity. Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
oCommunication: Excellent communication, facilitation, crisis intervention and Problem-solving skills
oAvailability: To work on site, this position requires occasional after-hours and weekend availability for emergencies or urgent issues.
oLanguages: Bilingual in French or other languages is an asset.
oTravel: Ability to travel between offices and community locations as required.
oValid Ontario driver's license and access to a vehicle is an asset (mileage reimbursed)
oClearances: Successful police background check may require to fulfill the Program mandate.
Working Conditions
oWork is based at our main mixed-use facility, with travel to other locations
oExposure to household conditions (e.g., smoke) may occur during home visits
oPhysical tasks include inspections, basic repairs, and lifting items under 25 lbs
oOccasional evening/weekend availability is required.
