The Opportunity: Reporting to the General Manager of Facilities, the Facilities Cleaning Coordinator ensures the cleanliness and upkeep of the YMCA facilities at the Saint John Regional Y. The Coordinator will carry out day to day housekeeping duties, as well as provide leadership to the housekeeping team, including supervision, scheduling and coaching. The Facilties Cleaning Coordinator is mainly evenings but is also required to maintain a flexible schedule that includes days, nights, holidays and weekends. Responsibilities

  • Cleaning building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming;
  • Cleaning windows, glass partitions, and mirrors, cleaning and polishing fixtures, dust furniture, walls, machines, and equipment.
  • Servicing, cleaning and supplying locker rooms public restrooms and laundering towels
  • Collecting trash and recyclables and trash and transporting to proper disposal areas;
  • Planning and organizing the housekeeping teams\' shift schedule and duty schedule;
  • Participating in building audits to insure that a high standard of cleanliness is being met and maintained;
  • Administrative duties include payroll and supply inventory;
  • Assist with training all new staff and current staff to ensure knowledgeable and well-trained delivery of services;
  • Inspect and monitor the housekeeping tools and equipment;
  • Follows all safety and security guidelines., emergency and accident prevention procedures and responds promptly;
  • Maintains the cleanliness, neatness and organization of the housekeeping area;
Skills and Qualifications:
  • Minimum three years cleaning experience in a commercial establishment;
  • Experience supervising a team;
  • Professional with a positive attitude, strong work ethic and organizational skills;
  • Is patient, helpful and interested in the welfare of the guests and staff;
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and physically demanding environment;
  • Flexibility regarding assigned work schedule, including evenings, weekends, and days;
  • Experience with Microsoft Office as well as the ability to learn other computer programs;
  • Demonstrated ability to work alone or as part of a team;
  • Valid driver\'s license and available, reliable transportation;
  • Employment is contingent on having a clean Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search
