Job Purpose


The Fabrication Human Resources Advisor acts as the liaison for all Fabrication employees pertaining to day-to-day operations of the Human Resources functions and duties. Responsibilities:

  • Display a commitment to Waiward\xe2\x80\x99s incident-free vision, values, and culture.
  • Assist in the development and alignment of Human Resources strategies as it pertains to the organization\xe2\x80\x99s goals.
  • Provide guidance and support regarding labour relations, while ensuring adherence to current legislation, collective agreement and Waiward\xe2\x80\x99s policies and procedures.
  • Act as a liaison for Fabrication services to:
    • Offer assistance for employees or supervisors with any HR related inquiries.
    • Provide notifications to necessary parties for fabrication hires, terminations, and wage or position related changes.
    • Communicate and collaborate regularly with various departments on requests or clarification regarding fabrication employees.
    • Maintain apprentice documentation.
    • Input weekly Foreman attendance sheets, vacation requests, and expenses, etc.
  • Fabrication recruitment, selection, and retention:
    • Post jobs, screen applicants, and conduct interviews as per employee power requirements requested by the Director, Shop Operations.
    • Lead Fabrication employee on-boarding.
  • Coordinate and maintain Temporary Foreign Worker (TFW) documentation.
    • Track all TFW documentation within our internal database.
    • Assist with the management of the TFW program and provide support to employees.
  • Assist with workplace investigations and prepare/deliver any disciplinary actions, terminations or follow-up administration required.
  • Updates and distributes operational statistics:
    • Weekly Seniority Report.
    • Weekly Recruitment Forecasting and Onboarding Updates
  • Conducts Exit Interviews to track and determine reasons for employment separation.
  • May perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Degree and/or Diploma in Human Resources is considered an asset.
  • 2 to 5 years working within a Generalist type role.
  • Experience working within a unionized environment.
  • Current and up to date knowledge of employment laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Must possess tact, diplomacy, and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Exceptional organizational and multi-tasking skills that are complimented by effective interpersonal, oral, and written communication.
  • Highly motivated with the ability to work within a fast-paced environment and maintain a high-volume workload.
  • Ability to problem solve and work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees.
  • A team player with strong work ethic and can work independently.
  • Passionate with regards to creating and maintaining a positive employee experience at Waiward.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.).

Working Conditions


The incumbent is required to work in an office environment with moderate noise. The job may require the incumbent to walk stairs; be outside in inclement weather (slippery surfaces and cold); carrying objects, driving and being exposed to normal office routines.


Physical Requirements



The incumbent is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal for extended periods of time; and extensive reading. The incumbent is also required to stand and sit for extended periods of time.
