Pay Range: $110-130k

Job Summary: The Extrusion Manager reports directly to the Plant Manager in Mississauga, ON

Required Education/Experience:
  • A post secondary degree a plus
  • 10 years + of aluminium management experience or successful Manufacturing experience10 years + of aluminium management experience or successful Manufacturing experience
Preferred Skills/Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of contract language interpretation
  • Manufacturing experience
  • Strong analytical skills, professionalism and organizational skills
  • Leadership training an asset
  • Strong working knowledge of Extrusion Press and Die Practices and Quality Management Systems
  • Familiar with Continuous Improvement Processes
  • Aluminium Extrusion Production and Quality Systems
  • Understand GD&T and Drawing Tolerance, reading blueprints
  • Strong computer skills
  • Fluency in English, any other languages a plus
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate on all levels. Demonstrated ability to work with a team and independently and with all levels of the workforce
  • Ability to travel if necessary

Job Responsibilities:
  • As a member of the Plant Management Team, represents the department in establishing objectives and long-range goals, ensures the department follows organizational policies, procedures and processes and cooperates with other departments as required in achievement of organizational goals.
  • Provide leadership in HSE areas to secure safe and organized work-environment, engage team members in safety activities, and ensure that all Hydro health and safety procedures are followed.
  • Responsible for the optimal performance of the Extrusion Department. This includes monitoring the following:
  • productivity in kilos/shift
  • department manning and labour costs
  • recovery
  • extrusion run failures
  • performance and maintenance of production equipment.
  • staff and production performance
  • press results
  • Works closely with the Plant Manager and Extrusion Supervisors on strategic improvement plans for the extrusion department.
  • Provides leadership, mentoring and coaching for team members to promote collaboration and a team environment.
  • Develop and facilitate Problem Solving and Continuous Improvement activities to drive improvements in quality, department efficiency and waste elimination.
  • Oversees the planning and scheduling of department personnel to meet production requirements.
  • Develop and sponsor experiments to support continuous improvement.
  • Ensures Health and Safety objectives are followed.
  • Enforces the Collective Agreement as required.
  • Responsible for answering Sales and Customer quality concerns.
  • Reviews New Product Developments with Die Shop Department.
  • Able to lead and promote a team environment.
  • Ensures that staffing requirements are met for the department, including hiring, employee training and development and goal setting. This includes providing feedback where appropriate.
  • Other duties as assigned.
