This role is responsible for ensuring consistent product quality, optimizing process efficiency, and leading a team of operators in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate has strong technical knowledge of extrusion systems, troubleshooting skills, and a passion for continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the setup, operation, and shutdown of extrusion equipment, ensuring adherence to production schedules and quality standards.
Monitor process parameters and make real-time adjustments to optimize throughput, minimize waste, and maintain product consistency.
Train and mentor extrusion operators on best practices, safety protocols, and equipment handling.
Collaborate with maintenance, quality assurance, and engineering teams to resolve process issues and implement improvements.
Maintain accurate production records, including downtime tracking, material usage, and quality checks.
Support the implementation of automation, sensor integration, and data collection systems to enhance line performance.
Conduct root cause analysis for process deviations and lead corrective action initiatives.
Ensure compliance with food safety, health & safety, and environmental regulations.
Qualifications:
Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Food Process Technology, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
3+ years of experience operating or leading extrusion processes, preferably in food or plastics manufacturing.
Strong understanding of extrusion mechanics, temperature control, feed systems, and set up configurations.
Experience with twin-screw or single-screw extruders, or similar systems.
Familiarity with PLCs, HMI interfaces, and process automation tools.
Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to work flexible shifts and respond to operational needs. Shift coverage is 24/7
Preferred Skills:
Experience with AI or data-driven process optimization tools.
Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies.
Background in high-viscosity slurry handling or coating systems is a plus.
