Requisition ID: 183106Opportunity: Positions across the provinceAbout This OpportunityThe Nova Scotia Practice Ready Assessment Program (NS PRAP) and Nova Scotia Health are looking for physicians that are interested in making a difference by helping bring physicians to underserviced areas in Nova Scotia. Becoming an Assessor with NS PRAP will give you the opportunity to help bring physicians to patients in rural Nova Scotia.NSPRAP works with internationally trained physician candidates interested in practicing in Nova Scotia but are required to go through a practice assessment to be eligible to apply for a defined licence. Each candidate requires successful completion of two 6-week assessments to qualify for licensure. This is where you come in\xe2\x80\xa6NS PRAP offers two intakes a year and assessors are needed during spring and fall sessions. We are seeking Primary and Secondary assessors for either one or both of the two sessions in a year.We are currently in need of assessors for Fall 2024 and Spring 2025.QualificationsTo be a Primary or Secondary assessor you must meet the following requirements:

  • Have a full licence to practice family medicine in Nova Scotia;
  • Be in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia.
  • Have been practicing family medicine in Canada with a scope of family practice which is similar to that which PRA candidates are likely to require in underserved communities.
  • 5+ years to be the primary physician assessor,
  • 3+ years to be a secondary physician assessor.
  • Have national certification (CFPC) in the specialty of family medicine (is preferable);
  • Have privileges with Nova Scotia Health;
  • All assessors must have a faculty appointment with the Dalhousie University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Family Medicine. If you do not have a faculty appointment, you will receive assistance in obtaining one for the purpose of your work with NSPRAP.
  • Experience in assessing family medicine residents may be an asset but is not a requirement;
