Job Summary

The Operational Technology (OT) Expert System Designer - Network and Communication is responsible and accountable for the OT Design implementation of numerous technology roadmaps. To enable the proper Development and Integration of OT technologies that meet Reliability, Availability, and Maintainability, Safety and Security guidelines and principles. This applies to technologies in the areas of; waysides equipment, telecommunication and networking to enable holistic operation technology solutions. To oversees the introduction of new technical solutions in accordance to enterprise architecture roadmaps with optimal benefits to CN.

The person provides technical domain leadership to Network & Communication system designers, system integrators, product managers and the management team to improve the network and telecommunication infrastructure and applications, trigger the introduction of new technologies and initiate containment or retirement of legacy systems.

The Expert plays the role of technical authority for the Telecom domain, and contributes to strategic decisions in support of CN business requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES

\xc2\xb7 Lead Network and Communication technical roadmap sessions to define design for Operational Applications

\xc2\xb7 Responsible for the Design, Development, Integration, configuration of technology components and connectivity in CN\'s Core Operational Technology environments

\xc2\xb7 Evolve the technical direction of the OT organization by promoting where applicable the development of key environment, components or applications to CN\'s operations over the integration of third party products or development of in house products and applications

\xc2\xb7 Influence the Railroad Industry (act as a technical strategic advisor) towards new concepts of operations while improving the overall mission critical system\'s Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, Safety and Security levels and while reducing total cost of ownership for CN

\xc2\xb7 Represent CN with the Rail Industry, through involvement in Standards definition and Technical Advisor groups participation in areas of networking and communication

\xc2\xb7 Provide technical leadership to multi-disciplinary technology experts: Telecom, Infrastructure, Integrators, RAMS, Security and external Vendors

\xc2\xb7 Manage product roadmaps from OEM and vendors to enable CN requirements

\xc2\xb7 Deliver Security roadmap - by release - to address potential Security vulnerabilities to the OT solutions upon CISO direction

\xc2\xb7 Work directly with business SMEs, architects and subject matter experts to translate enterprise vision and direction into highly scalable, reliable and operationally viable technical architectures, services and solutions

\xc2\xb7 Stay abreast of industry trends and proactively identify areas for growth, improvement, and development of enterprise integration capabilities, both internally and externally

\xc2\xb7 Exchange about new technologies and applications with Management, Solution/System Designers /Integrators and Architects Participate in RFPs, support or lead technology selection and Proof of Concept activities, drive decision

\xc2\xb7 Work directly with the Delivery Manager and Project manager to identify product management, architecture, design, build and quality assurance lab and field-testing deliverables with associated estimates including technical risks

\xc2\xb7 Lead the introduction of new technology/capabilities in the organization. External to CN.

\xc2\xb7 Influence vendor roadmaps based on CN needs and requirements (e.g. modernization, security, automation, etc.)

Skills/Knowledge

\xc2\xb7 Significant expertise in Agile project delivery and Waterfall methodologies

\xc2\xb7 Ability to clarify requirements and ensure solution meets business needs

\xc2\xb7 Demonstrated skills in influencing and convincing senior stakeholders

\xc2\xb7 Strong IT security knowledge and awareness

\xc2\xb7 Proven technical experience projects exceeding multiple millions

\xc2\xb7 Significant expertise with multiple technologies related IT applications

\xc2\xb7 Significant expertise with multiple technologies related to telecommunications networks

\xc2\xb7 Significant experience in applying a structured approach for exploiting the potential of new technologies

\xc2\xb7 Expert systems engineering knowledge in applying a structured system engineering approach (V-model)

\xc2\xb7 A foundation in software development

\xc2\xb7 Very strong influencing and presentation skills

\xc2\xb7 Excellent and proven leadership skills, both technical and people

\xc2\xb7 Ability to estimate efforts and costs required for delivery

\xc2\xb7 Team worker, strong communication skills

\xc2\xb7 Able to drive multiple projects in parallel

\xc2\xb7 Strong sense or prioritization for meeting deadlines

REQUIREMENTS

\xc2\xb7 Bachelor\'s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent work experience

\xc2\xb7 15+ years of experience in IT

\xc2\xb7 10+ years of experience in architecture and system design

\xc2\xb7 5+ years of experience in Linux System Admin Configuration and Integration

\xc2\xb7 Experience in IT infrastructure and Telecommunications

\xc2\xb7 Experience in Business Applications Development, Testing & Support

\xc2\xb7 Bilingual (French and English)

\xc2\xb7 Experience in working with Agile and Azure DevOps development organizations to manage backlog and team\'s sprints is an asset

\xc2\xb7 Experience in the Railway or Operational Technology domain is an asset
