The SAP Basis Expert is responsible for the evolution, technical support, and maintenance of clients' SAP ecosystems, including both production and non-production environments. This role demands deep technical expertise in SAP Basis, strong communication skills, and business acumen. The consultant will serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) and Level 3 support, collaborating closely with incident management, managed services partners, development and functional teams, and other stakeholders.
Responsibilities
Monitor, support, and maintain SAP production and non-production ecosystems.
Analyze EarlyWatch Alerts (EWA) and deploy necessary corrections.
Plan and execute periodic upgrades (Kernel, HANA, and other components).
Analyze and deploy SAP security patches and hotfixes.
Coordinate SAP release updates and upgrades.
Support multiple SAP instances across the ecosystem.
Perform SAP HANA database dimensioning and performance tuning.
Monitor performance and conduct system tuning.
Configure and optimize monitoring tools.
Manage SAP printing subsystems.
Conduct SOX and security reporting for audits.
Configure and maintain Solution Manager scenarios (CCLM, DVM, CHARM).
Develop and maintain documentation for SAP systems and interfaces.
Collaborate with Architecture team on technical landscape and roadmaps.
Interface with Program Office, Architecture, Development, and Testing teams.
Create documentation and training materials for in-house skill development.
Participate in IT/SAP projects, offering technical guidance and best practices.
Support internal and external audits, including documentation preparation.
Coach Basis team members through knowledge transfer and training.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent experience.
15+ years of IS&T application support experience, with deep expertise in SAP Basis operations.
Experience in SAP Basis project implementation and transport management.
Proficiency in SAP Solution Manager (ITSM, CHARM, CSOL, CCTS, CCLM, DVM, PPM).
Knowledge of SAP Test Suite, Job Management, and other support modules.
Expertise in SAP landscape design, sizing, and performance tuning.
Experience with SAP system installations, upgrades, and client copies.
Familiarity with SAP ABAP and JAVA stacks.
Experience with SAP ECC, S/4HANA, GTS, SCM, and interfaces.
Exposure to SAP cloud applications (LBN, IBP, IAS, CI-DS, BTP, CALM).
Knowledge of virtualization technologies.
Experience with integration engines (SAP Data Services, Dell Boomi, Talend).
Strong troubleshooting skills across SAP and non-SAP systems.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, multitasking environment.
Team player with mentoring capabilities and business acumen.
