The salary range for this position is:
  • Recruitment range: $72,242- $79,650 starting salary determined by the PEA Collective Agreement.
  • Performance range: $93,951 salary range ceiling is available through annual performance increases.
Job Summary
Mandate:
Reporting to the Experiential Learning Associate Director, the Manager of Experiential Learning will lead the design and delivery of experiential learning priorities across undergraduate and graduate programs. The role focuses on developing, implementing and evaluating curriculum-based experiential learning initiatives to enhance students' personal and professional growth and development of leadership skills. These initiatives include and are not limited to the delivery of academic content, workshops, simulations and Community-Engaged learning activities (such as our Community Volunteer Income Tax program) etc. Other major responsibilities include supervising staff within the unit, contributing to services to support conditions for student success, being a holistic resource for students and providing key support to the Associate Director of EL.
Objectives:
  • Manage and deliver inclusive and innovative experiential learning programming at Gustavson
  • Foster learner-driven outcomes through collaboration with faculty, staff, students, and community interest holders
  • Coach students towards the development of socially responsible leadership skills
Flexibility to work on weekends and evenings as required to match academic program delivery and scheduled and emergent needs of student and community partners (e.g. not-for-profit organizations). Must be adaptable to program and priority changes.
Job Requirements
This position requires a level of education, training, and experience equivalent to an undergraduate degree in Administration, Education, leadership or other appropriate discipline plus minimum 5 years of relevant experience in:
  • Experiential learning curriculum development and delivery
  • Group facilitation for individual development through various modalities (such as workshops, community engaged activities)
  • Education program management implementation and assessment
  • Diverse work environment and interest holder population
  • Coach approach to communication, collaboration and teamwork
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Knowledge requirements include:
  • Experience in the design and delivery of in person and online educational programs
  • Connecting objectives and outcomes to program goals
  • Excellent digital literacy, including the use of MS Office (particularly Outlook, MS Teams, Word, Excel), databases, and Zoom
  • Knowledge of leadership skills development
  • Awareness of diverse learning needs, perspectives and modes of engagement
  • Ability to motivate and inspire others, strong commitment and passion to enhance the student experience
  • Ability to build and maintain productive working relationships with diverse interest holders
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, in person and online
  • Demonstrated initiative and willingness to champion innovation and new processes
  • Sensitivity to student mental health and wellness
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Assets or Preferences:
  • Previous experience in coaching for personal, academic and/or professional development an asset
  • Previous experience in a post-secondary environment an asset
  • Previous experience working with community organizations
