Technologist, Energy Pilot Facilities & OperationsInnoTech Alberta is seeking a Technologist to join its Energy Pilot Facilities & Operations team in Devon, AB. With a focus on supporting Alberta\xe2\x80\x99s energy and manufacturing sectors, the Energy Pilot Facilities and Operations team works in collaboration with the Research and Development teams within the Advanced Materials and Monitoring Division to de-risk and evaluate technologies and provide applied research solutions for industrial clients. The portfolio of services supported by the team is diverse and focuses on industry\xe2\x80\x99s needs by assessing, characterizing, and validating durability of materials for industrial applications, evaluating and validating integrity management technologies, and assessing material corrosion phenomenon in field and simulated severe service and sour environments.Are you our next Technologist to join the Energy Pilot Facilities & Operations team? Visit us at:Intrigued? Here\xe2\x80\x99s some more information about the position:Reporting to the Supervisor of the Energy Pilot Facilities & Operations team. The successful incumbent will be accountable for (but not limited to) the following:
  • Technical
  • Collect, compile and document experimental data and write data summaries
  • Organize, monitor, and maintain experiments or portions of experiments; design simple experiments; support pilot scale experiments.
  • Conduct experiments and assist with analysis of experiments.
  • Operate, maintain, test, calibrate and provide equipment that conforms to specifications detailed in applicable standards.
  • Project Management
  • Identify and acquire materials, services, facilities, equipment and supplies for experimental projects.
  • Review and assist in preparing moderately complex project proposals and cost quotations.
  • Monitor, report and present progress, data and/or results of experiments to project leader.
  • Safety and Quality Management
  • Actively contribute to conducting hazard assessments, self-safety and cross-audit safety inspections, creating safe working procedures and ensuring workplace remain free of safety hazards.
  • Maintain lab organization and cleanliness (general housekeeping).
  • Handle, store and dispose of chemical and waste materials.
  • Business Development/Stakeholder Relationship
  • Assist with engagement and follow-up for new and existing clients or stakeholders.
  • Participate and provide input at technical project meetings and follow-up on action items.
Educational Requirement:
  • Diploma in Materials or Chemical Engineering Technology
Experience and Qualifications we are looking for:
  • 5-7 years of experience in corrosion or material lab testing and related instruments in industrial or research environment.
  • Experience with working in H2S environments, H2S Alive certified (or eligible for renewal).
  • Working knowledge with NACE and ASTM standards.
  • Class 5 Drivers License.
Skills Required:
  • Comfortable working within an industrial setting and familiarity with industrial hazards and processes. Experience in an industrial environment would be considered an asset.
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to understand equipment process flow (eg. P&ID interpretation).
  • Willingness for hands-on work and ability to perform physically demanding tasks in support of pilot-scale facility operation.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) skills as well as the ability to write technical data reports.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Flexible to complete a variety of tasks.
  • Ability to prioritize workflow.
