Telecon Inc., Canada\xe2\x80\x99s leading provider of telecommunications network infrastructure services is seeking an energetic, career-minded individual looking to take on the position of Designer within our Design Group. FTTH Designer is capable of planning, design and detail engineering especially applied to deployment of FTTH networks and outdoor telecommunication networks for various types of projects consisting of new build (Single Family Unit - SFU / Multi Dwelling Units - MDU), (commercial or industrial). We are currently seeking an experienced Designer with at least 2 years of previous Rogers Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH) design experience. Responsibilities:

• Drafts and designs for aerial and underground telecommunications using fibre optics techniques and methodology.
• Produce various plans including cable & splicing plans, conduit plans etc.
• Updates Fiber Design databases and maintains system maps including base map, cable, fiber routes, addresses including commercial, SFU & MDU.
• Imports AutoCAD, TIFF or other file formats and hard copy maps to create electronic base maps for road bases, MDU\xe2\x80\x99s & Strand routing;
• Designs fiber optic communications network system to Client design specifications;
• Incorporates field changes and as-built changes from draft prints to the system database;
• Communicates with the Permit department and Coordinators in order to gather and provide accurate information with regards to construction design and drafting;
• Creates and validates detailed BOM (Bill of material) lists;
• Determines method to design the plant change with minimal impact to the system/customer and minimize related construction cost & ensures quality of design;
• Any and all other duties as assigned in order to meet Company objectives.

Requirements:

• College Diploma in Engineering Technology or equivalent work experience
• A minimum of 2 years\' experience in design of Rogers FTTH or similar networks.
• Experience with AutoCAD is required. Experience with Spatial Net & Visio is an asset.
• Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite of products
• Good analytical skills and good judgment
• Good written communication skills
• Knowledge of technical standards for the design of the outside network (poles, broad band technology, fiber & copper cables) would be an asset
• Self-disciplined
• Able to operate effectively in a fast-paced and highly energetic environment
• Capable of working under pressure, sense of urgency
• Team player
• Autonomous, adaptable
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize responsibilities
• Must have excellent QC skills
