We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Child Psychotherapist to join our team. The ideal candidate will work closely with children and their families, providing therapeutic support tailored to individual needs. Proficiency in Korean is strongly preferred.

Roots & Tales is the Psychotherapy Department within a multidisciplinary team based in Richmond Hill, Ontario. We specialize in pediatric mental health services tailored to the unique and diverse needs of children. Working in close collaboration with occupational therapists and speech-language pathologists, we provide integrated, holistic care that supports children's emotional, behavioural, and developmental well-being. Our client-centered approach empowers children to overcome obstacles, embrace their unique strengths, and flourish in their essential roles at home, school, and beyond.

Key Responsibilities:



Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on assessment findings, utilizing evidence-based therapeutic techniques. Provide psychotherapy sessions to children and adolescents using a variety of modalities such as play therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and family therapy. Collaborate with families, caregivers, and other professionals involved in the child's care to ensure a holistic approach to treatment. Monitor and evaluate progress throughout the therapeutic process, adjusting treatment plans as necessary to meet evolving needs and goals. Provide guidance and support to parents/caregivers on effective parenting strategies and techniques for managing their child's behaviors. Participate in case conferences, team meetings, and ongoing professional development activities to enhance clinical skills and knowledge. Conduct play-based counselling sessions for children and adolescents with Autism or ADHD diagnoses and their families. Utilize experiential interventions to address a wide range of mental health concerns and developmental challenges. Provide therapy that is sensitive to the unique needs of neurodivergent individuals, modifying traditional approaches as necessary. Work collaboratively with colleagues to develop and implement innovative programs and resources. Build and lead therapeutic groups as needed. Create training materials and provide training to other professionals, contributing to the advancement of neurodiversity-affirming care.

Qualifications and Requirements:



Current registration with the Ontario College of Social Work and Social Service Workers or the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario 2 to 3 years of counselling experience, with a focus on children and adolescents Certification in Play Therapy or completion of Play Therapy Training with extensive knowledge in a variety of Play Therapy approaches Experience supporting children, youth, and their families affected by anxiety, depression, family conflict, trauma, loss, and relationship difficulties Experience working with diverse, vulnerable populations across a wide age range Experience building and leading therapeutic groups, as well as creating training materials and resources, are assets
Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $92.00-$100.00 per hour
