We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Senior Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in dental assisting, with a strong understanding of various dental procedures and technologies. This role involves supporting dentists in delivering high-quality patient care, managing clinical tasks, and ensuring a smooth workflow within the practice. The Senior Dental Assistant will also play a key role in mentoring junior staff and enhancing the overall patient experience.
Responsibilities
Assist dentists during examinations and procedures, ensuring all necessary instruments and materials are prepared and available.
Take dental radiographs (X-rays) as required and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
Maintain accurate patient records using dental software systems such as Dentrix and Epic.
Provide exceptional patient care by explaining procedures, addressing concerns, and ensuring comfort during visits.
Manage sterilization of instruments and maintain cleanliness of the clinical area according to infection control protocols.
Support orthodontic procedures and assist with pediatric patients as needed.
Collaborate with the dental receptionist to schedule appointments, manage patient flow, and handle administrative tasks.
Stay updated on medical terminology and advancements in dental technology, including CAD (Computer-Aided Design).
Mentor and train junior dental assistants in best practices and office protocols.
Qualifications
Proven experience as a Dental Assistant; certification or diploma in Dental Assisting is preferred.
Proficiency in using dental software systems such as Dentrix and Epic is highly desirable.
Knowledge of orthodontics, pediatrics, and medical terminology is a plus.
Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with patients of all ages.
Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail to ensure accuracy in patient records and clinical tasks.
Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while also demonstrating leadership qualities.
