It is our mandate to encourage the enhancement of the agriculture industry and the quality of life of citizens living within the agricultural community. In their efforts to continuously accelerate economic opportunity through the delivery of memorable experiences, construction of a new 268,000-square foot Agri-food Hub and Trade Centre is set to be complete for opening in Spring 2023 (www.agrifoodhub.ca). The Lethbridge & District Pro Rodeo is a premiere showcase of Southern Alberta\xe2\x80\x99s western culture that captures the history of our rodeo roots and brings together dedicated circuit stakeholders, families, fans, and corporate communities. It highlights local and regional talent, historical agriculture practices and celebrates our community. Reporting to the Director, Business Development, the Executive Producer, Western Events will be responsible for coordinating and executing the Lethbridge & District Pro Rodeo. This will include ensuring all objectives and essential duties are met for the overall success of the annual rodeo.
Key Work Activities

  • Western Event Key Work Activities
    • Oversee all direction for the rodeo, as it ties into the overall theme and goals of the organization
    • Key contact for all communications with rodeo sanctioning bodies related to the event and/or competitors
    • Ensure objectives are met for specific areas of production for the Pro Rodeo, including, but not limited to marketing and advertising, sponsorship/fulfillment pertaining to in arena deliverables, contestant hospitality, visiting committees, contestant outreach, overnight stalls, among others.
    • Create and/or oversee the creation of all timelines and scripting for rodeo production \xe2\x80\x93 aligning with sponsorship and organizational objectives
    • Collaboration with production staff on all video production, presentations, opening and closing ceremonies as well as any sponsorship activities
    • Collaborate with production and operations staff on the hiring of all rodeo and production related workers
    • Oversee the logistics for move in, set up and execution
    • Recruit, assign and coordinate over 30 volunteer staff
    • Manage budgets related to rodeo production
    • Perform other duties as required

  • Partnership Sales Key Work Activities
    • Ability to implement, execute and maintain the LDE sales process including product knowledge, needs analysis, proposal preparation and presentation, negotiating and administratively tracking sales in new and existing pipelines;
    • Create any materials required to pitch and present to prospective corporate partners;
    • Lead presentations and negotiate packages to potential corporate partners;
    • Initiate and maintain regular contact with corporate partners, developing strong professional relationships;
    • Work in collaboration with all departments at the LDE to identify and develop new commercialized strategies that can be presented to corporate partners as sellable opportunities.

Working Environment
  • Work undefined hours \xe2\x80\x93 some events during the year will require extended hours.
  • Standard office environment for the majority of the time.
  • Ability to be physically mobile for extended periods of time during events - freedom of movement, walking, and standing is required.
  • Driving greater than two (2) hours may be required.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree preferred
  • Must have rodeo production or closely related experience
  • Rodeo knowledge is required
  • Previous experience working with volunteers is required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to plan and manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Experience in hospitality, sporting, events and entertainment industries are preferred.

  • Knowledge of event and entertainment industry;
  • Strong ability to establish and maintain strong relationships with key clients and stakeholders;
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills
  • Demonstrated proficiency for managing multiple, complex priorities within demanding timeframes;
  • Time-management skills and a proven track record of delivering quality results, with attention to details;
  • Computer proficiency required including advanced Excel, Word, Outlook, databases and general internet skills; and
  • Responsible, accountable and solutions focused \xe2\x80\x93 you deliver on promises and take the initiative
  • Up for a challenge \xe2\x80\x93 you are ready to take on a demanding position where you can share in the wins of the organization alongside colleagues across various departments

Other:
Must be able to obtain and maintain a satisfactory Criminal Record Check for the duration of employment.
