Job Description

We are a private, family-oriented household in Calgary seeking an experienced, professional nanny to provide attentive, developmentally focused care for our two young children, ages 3 years and 21 months. Our priority is finding the right long-term fit, and we are happy to work collaboratively around the nanny's availability for the right candidate.

This role is ideal for a caregiver who values quality, consistency, and meaningful connection. We are seeking someone who approaches childcare with intention, professionalism, and genuine enjoyment, and who is interested in becoming a trusted part of our family's routine.

This is a part-time position consisting of one shift per day, scheduled for approximately 2 to 4 days per week. We are flexible on which days and which shift, depending on availability and fit.

Schedule Structure:



One shift per day Approximately 2-4 days per week

Available shift windows include:



Morning care approximately 7:00 / 7:30 AM - 12:30 PM Afternoon care approximately 2:30 PM - 7:00 PM
Occasional evening or date-night care may be requested with advance notice.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:



Provide attentive, warm, and individualized care tailored to each child's developmental stage Thoughtfully plan and engage in age-appropriate activities that support language development, motor skills, emotional regulation, and early learning Read with the children daily and encourage conversation, imaginative play, and creativity Facilitate regular outings to indoor activity centres, play gyms, libraries, early learning spaces, and other child-friendly environments Transport the children to activities using the nanny's own vehicle as needed Balance indoor excursions with outdoor activities such as walks and park visits when weather permits Support independence and emotional development for the 3-year-old through calm guidance and routine Support toddler milestones for the 21-month-old, including speech, movement, and emotional regulation Encourage positive behaviour through consistency and gentle structure

Daily Routines and Care:



Prepare and serve nutritious meals and snacks for the children Support nap routines and quiet time Assist with diapering, potty training, dressing, and hygiene Maintain flexibility within established routines to meet the children's needs

Light Household Responsibilities Related to the Children



Occasional meal preparation for the children or family when time permits General tidying throughout the shift, including loading and unloading the dishwasher, wiping surfaces, sweeping floors in child areas, and cleaning high chairs after meals Maintaining cleanliness and organization in areas used by the children Managing children's laundry and organization Resetting play spaces and activity areas at the end of each shift

Communication and Partnership



Maintain open, thoughtful communication with parents regarding routines, milestones, and daily experiences Share observations that support consistency and developmental progress Work collaboratively and respectfully as part of a team

Ideal Candidate



Experienced nanny with a strong understanding of toddler development Comfortable transporting children to activities using their own vehicle Calm, confident, and attentive Professional, reliable, and discreet Proactive and capable of managing both childcare and light household tasks Values flexibility, mutual respect, and long-term relationships

Qualifications



Previous professional nanny or childcare experience with toddlers CPR and First Aid certified (or willing to obtain) Legally eligible to work in Canada Valid driver's licence, clean driving record, and reliable vehicle Excellent references

Compensation



Competitive and commensurate with experience Additional compensation provided for occasional evening or date-night care Mileage reimbursement provided for use of the nanny's personal vehicle when transporting the children, at a standard per-kilometre rate
