Executive & Family Support Assistant (hybrid Role)

Vancouver, BC, CA, Canada

Job Description

Who We Are:

We are a small, dynamic biomedical company led by an executive who is deeply committed to both his business and his family. We are seeking a unique individual to act as a trusted assistant and coordinator providing a blend of personal, family, and executive support. This is not a typical corporate role; it is a hands-on position for someone who is compassionate, resourceful, and thrives on making a tangible difference.

The Role:

This is a multi-faceted part-time role with one primary, critical objective and significant room for growth into other areas. Your core responsibility will be to provide compassionate and reliable support for the executive's elderly father, thereby alleviating the executive's many commitments in order to enable him to better focus on his work.

Primary Responsibilities: Family & Personal Support

Your most important duty will be assisting with the care of a geriatric family member. While no specialized medical certification is required, your patience, reliability, and comfort with hands-on care are paramount.

Provide companionship and ensure his safety and well-being, primarily preventing falls. Administer daily medications and insulin injections on a set schedule. Provide basic ostomy care (emptying the bag); training will be provided if needed. Encourage him to eat and drink throughout the day. Drive to and from medical appointments, providing support and companionship during waits. Handle the challenges of geriatric care with patience and a calm, matter-of-fact demeanor.

Secondary Responsibilities: Personal & Executive Errands

Run and assist with conducting various personal and business errands such as pick-ups, drop-offs, and shopping. Manage tasks that fall outside the scope of other employees' roles. Provide transportation for the executive or family members as needed.

Potential for Growth: Business & Administrative Support

For the right candidate, this role offers a unique opportunity to grow, have a varied scope and nature of work, and take on more responsibilities based on your skills and interests. As you demonstrate competence and build trust, your duties may expand to include:

Administrative Assistance:

Screening emails, managing communications, and coordinating schedules to streamline the executive's workflow.

Logistical Support:

Conducting basic research, placing orders, and obtaining quotes from vendors.

Financial Admin:

Assisting with personal bookkeeping and liaising with the company accountant.

Project Coordination:

Depending on your skillset, you could be involved in diverse business projects. We are open to leveraging talents in areas such as: Web Development or UX/UI Design Social Media Content Creation & Digital Marketing Inside or Outside Sales Support And more. Please share all your potentially relevant skillsets with us!

Who You Are: The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a unique individual who is :

A Natural "Doer":

You are proactive, hands-on, and have a strong inner drive to get things done. You're not one to sit idle when there's a task to be completed.

Compassionate and Resilient:

You understand the realities of elder care and can handle challenging situations, such as patient outbursts or the less pleasant aspects of care, with grace and professionalism.

A Jack-of-All-Trades:

You enjoy variety and are capable of switching gears between vastly different tasks--from personal care to potentially discussing a website layout--without missing a beat.

Intelligent and Resourceful:

You are a quick learner and a natural problem-solver who can operate with a high degree of autonomy.

Straightforward and Dependable:

You communicate clearly and honestly and are someone we can count on without hesitation.

Experienced (in a broad sense):

While formal nursing or geriatric care experience is an asset, it is not required. Experience in any care-based role (including childcare) or a demonstrated history of responsibility and compassion in past work is highly valued. The key is your temperament and suitability for the nature of the work.

Must have a valid Class 5 Driver's License and a clean driving record.

What We Offer:

A competitive hourly wage. A flexible, part-time schedule. A unique opportunity to develop a diverse skillset in a supportive environment. A dynamic role where no two days are the same. The chance to make a profound and immediate positive impact on a family and a growing business.
If you are a resourceful, compassionate, and multi-talented individual looking for a meaningful role that goes beyond a traditional job description, we strongly encourage you to apply. Please submit your resume and a brief cover letter explaining why you believe you are a good fit for this unique position.
