SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS


This role ensures the strategic and operational effectiveness of the organization, with a strong focus on environmental education and stewardship. The Executive Director will also be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Kitimat Recycling Depot and reports directly to the Board of Directors. The Executive Director provides leadership in staff management, community engagement, and regulatory compliance in alignment with the mission to protect the environment and educate the public. Developing and executing a strategic plan for educational outreach programs, aligning them with the organization's overall mission and goals. Designing, implementing, and managing a variety of educational programs, including school programs, online courses, workshops, and public engagement activities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


Provide vision, direction, and leadership, ensuring activities align with the Board's strategic goals. Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure safe and efficient operations for recycling materials. Develop and maintain the annual budget for review and approval by the Board of Directors. Lead all aspects of staff management, including hiring, orientation, professional development, and evaluations. Monitor operations to ensure compliance with regulatory and legal requirements. Foster a workplace that is diverse, inclusive, and equitable for all. Oversee negotiations with external stakeholders and service providers. Demonstrate strong knowledge of recycling operations and the ability to educate the public. Maintain digital tools, including Microsoft Office and the organization's website. Seek funding opportunities and applying for grants. Managing and mentoring a team of staff and volunteers involved in educational outreach.

BOARD LIAISON AND COMMUNICATION

Serve as the primary liaison between the Board of Directors and the organization. Provide reports on all aspects of depot performance as requested by the Board. Implement Board decisions and ensure accountability. Working to connect with and serve the needs of the community through educational outreach
EXTERNAL RELATIONS

Building and maintaining relationships with various stakeholders, including schools, community organizations, donors, and the public. Promote the organization's mission and programs in the community.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Post-secondary education in nonprofit management, business administration, environmental studies, or a
related field with a minimum of 2 years' experience in the field.

Proven leadership and staff management experience, preferably in a non-profit or environmental organization. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and public speaking skills. Strong financial management, budgeting, and grant-writing abilities. Familiarity with nonprofit governance, regulatory compliance, and environmental policy. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic website management. Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups, fostering inclusivity and collaboration. Pay: $35.00-$40.00 per hour
