About Hinton Friendship Centre Society



The Hinton Friendship Centre Society (HFCS) supports indigenous and non-indigenous people through a variety of social programs. With a workforce of over 20, HFCS have qualified registered Psychologist, social workers, pre-school teachers, and family support personnel in multiple locations to assist those in need from everything from sexual abuse trauma to early childhood education. Based in Hinton, Alberta, just outside of Jasper National Park, HFCS has been serving the greater Hinton community since 1993.

Position Summary



This job requires a special person to be the proud ambassador of the Hinton Friendship Centre. HFCS is looking for a highly motivated, committed, and passionate Executive Director (ED) to expand its impact and public awareness. The ED will embody the organization's values and culture and lead its 20-plus employees in supporting indigenous and non-indigenous people through various social programs.

The ED is responsible for managing and supervising the HFCS office, personnel and all programs and services; delegating responsibility to appropriate program managers and staff; and ensuring that policies and procedures are adhered to.

The Executive Director reports directly to the Board and oversees implementing the Board's decisions.

Overall, the Executive Director's responsibilities include:



? Creating and implementing strategies to promote the vision and mission of HFCS

? Creating comprehensive business plans to achieve the Board of directors' goals and objectives.

? Ensuring all HFCS activities are conducted in accordance with established policy and procedure.

? Carrying out the functions and duties of Chief Financial Officer for HFCS, including:

? Making recommendations to the Board on financial matters.

? Providing monthly expenditure reporting to the Board.

? Overseeing the preparation of long-term financial projections and cash flow.

? Monitoring adherence to agreements and funding arrangements entered in the by the HFCS.

? Maintaining financial accountability by ensuring that the requirements of funding agencies are met; and keeping the Board informed on the current financial position of the organization.

? Overseeing the planning, organizing, and scheduling of programs, activities, and events.

? Submitting recommended updates to the Policies and Procedures Manual for Board approval.

? Ensuring collecting and maintenance of statistical information pertaining to HFCS generally and individual programs specifically (e.g. membership list, donations, program users, volunteer time, quantifiable results etc.).

? Representing HFCS at national and provincial meetings and attending other meetings on behalf of HFCS.

? Serving on community and regional committees.

? Managing existing grants and funding relationships, reporting on those and securing new funding opportunities

? Constructing corrective actions for any identified issues and managing crises as needed.

? Additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications



? Minimum 2-year diploma is required.

? Bachelor's degree in social programing or social work is preferred.

? Minimum 5-year experience with managing people in a leadership role is required, with preference given to management within a not-for-profit or social work organization.

? Experience as an executive director is considered an asset.

? Indigenous background is preferred but not required.

? Extensive knowledge of developing strategies and plans.

? Capability to use effective fundraising and networking techniques.

? Strong understanding of corporate finance and performance metrics.

? Comprehensive understanding of corporate governance principles and managerial best practices.

? Knowledge of Zoom and Microsoft Office.

? SAGE knowledge is an asset.
