Big Brothers Big Sisters of Grande Prairie & Area (BBBSGP) is seeking an Executive Director. The organization has recently been awarded the opportunity to begin offering a new after-school program! BBBSGP is looking for an Executive Director to help us transition into this new and exciting chapter of our organization. Salary is negotiable based on applicant skills and experience.

Duties and Responsibilities



Oversee programming which includes development, implementation, promotion, execution, and evaluation of Agency programs in accordance with Agency policy and National Standards. Oversee all financial aspects of the Agency. This includes, but is not limited to, ensuring policies and procedures are in place, assisting the Board with the preparation, presentation, and implementation of the Agency's budget, and working with the Board to develop long-term financial plans. Oversee fundraising for the Agency. This includes, but is not limited to, planning and overseeing all fundraising activities and committees for the Agency's two major annual fundraisers, and ensuring new and existing sponsors are appropriately stewarded and recognized. Alongside the Board, act as the agency's key spokesperson and representative to the community, government, media, and other stakeholders. Ensure the organization builds and sustains relationships with youth, families, volunteers, donors, funders, and other community agencies. Explore and build strategic partnerships to advance the interests of the Agency. Effectively recruit, manage, and evaluate a small staff of under 10 employees. This includes determining required positions and adjusting staffing as necessary. Support the Board in all aspects of their roles including, but not limited to, creating and reviewing policies and procedures, preparing and distributing a monthly Board package, attending Board and committee meetings, and providing all necessary information to the Board. Work with the Board to develop and implement an ongoing Strategic Plan.

Qualifications and Desirable Skills



A minimum 2-year diploma in a related social service field is preferred. Experience with non-profit organizations is preferred. Experience leading a team of staff is preferred. Must be an energetic self-starter who is able to function independently as well as within a team environment. Must be willing to work irregular and additional hours on evenings and weekends as required. Must have the ability to provide timely responses and meet deadlines. Must have the ability to occasionally provide support for casework duties as needed. While the successful candidate will largely work within an office environment, the role may require meetings outside of the office. Must be able to attend and provide their own transportation to offsite meetings, conferences, and events. Must have the physical ability to facilitate fast-paced agency-led events and fundraisers which can range from sports activities to themed fundraising events and may include heavy lifting. Must have the ability to adhere to all provincial and federal legislation and ensure compliance in all applicable areas.
