Job Description

OVERVIEW



The Active Lifestyle Centre is a vibrant non-profit organization that enhances the quality of life throughout the community. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will oversee the strategic and operational efficiencies of programs and staff. The Executive Director will have experience in developing and implementing a successful fundraising plan, be highly effective in a leadership role that requires clear communication skills and decisiveness.

QUALIFICATIONS



Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in business, human resources, finance, volunteer management. Prefer a minimum of five (5) years experience in non-profit management experience.

PREFERRED SKILLS



Experience and skill in working with a Board of Directors. High level strategic thinking and planning. Ability to envision and convey the organization's strategic future to the staff, board, volunteers, donors and community. Demonstrated ability to oversee and collaborate with staff. Grant writing experience. A history of successfully generating new revenue streams and improving financial results. Strong financial management skills, including budget preparation, analysis, decision making and reporting. Strong written and oral communication skills. Strong public speaking ability.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS



Board Governance



Works with Board in order to fulfill the organization's mission. Responsible for leading ALC in a manner that supports and guides the organization's mission as defined by the Board of Directors. Responsible for communicating effectively with the Board and providing, in a timely and accurate manner, all information necessary for the Board to function properly and to make informed decisions.

Staff/Program Management



Responsible for all staff hiring, issues, management and challenges. Develop an annual Marketing Plan with regards to Membership enhancements and program development. Identify issues, problems and concerns with regards to the functionality of the ALC (Staff and Programming). Maintain personnel files and updates for all staff including training and management. Perform annual staff reviews and performance reports. Oversee all maintenance issues. On-call for building programs and staff issues. Delegate day to day operations.

Financial Performance and Viability



Develops resources sufficient to ensure the financial health of the organization. Responsible for fundraising and development other revenues necessary to support ALC's mission. Responsible for the fiscal integrity of ALC, to include submission to the Board of a proposed annual budget and monthly financial statements, which accurately reflect the financial condition of the organization. Responsible for fiscal management that generally anticipates operating within the approved budget, ensures maximum resource utilization, and maintenance of the organization in a positive financial position.

ACTUAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES



Report to and work closely with the Board of Directors to seek their involvement in policy decisions, fundraising and to increase the overall visibility of the organization. Supervise and collaborate with organization staff. Strategic planning and implementation. Planning operation of annual budget. Engage in fundraising and developing other revenues. Attend marketing and other communications efforts. Attend organization Board and committee meetings. Establishing employment and administrative policies and procedures for all functions and for the day-to-day operations. Review and approve contracts for services. Research and prepare Grant applications for funding and managing thereafter. Any other duties as assigned by the Board of Directors.

HOURS OF WORK



37.5 hours per week. Full time permanent.

This position reports to the Board of Directors.

Pay: $60,000.00-$85,000.00 per year
