Job Description


This position can be located in either Edmonton or Calgary and some province-wide travel may be required. THE IDEAL CANDIDATE For this important role, the Alberta Crime Stoppers Association seeks a credible, unifying people leader who is deeply committed to the success of the organization. Candidates should bring strength in external relations and internal management with an ability to balance the two. Preferred is a strong background in the non-profit sector, proven fiscal management, experience in community outreach and relationship building, volunteer management, and ability to negotiate agreements with funders. The Executive Director is responsible for all aspects of the organization, including fundraising, financial oversight and management, program sustainability and growth, and community relationships. Bachelor\'s Degree (preferred, but not necessary) Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the daily operations and serve as executive level management for all programs;
  • Directs the development and implementation of strategic goals, vision, performance measures, strategies, policies, and initiatives;
  • Fosters a culture of teamwork and efficiency with a strong sense of doing the right thing;
  • Leverages funding relationships and community partnerships to drive increased service delivery;
  • Utilizes technology to improve processes, report metrics, and deliver value to funders and the community.
Key Responsibilities Strategic Planning
  • Supporting the Board of Directors in the creation and maintenance of the Association\'s Strategic Plan and developing programs and services to support the vision and mission.
  • Conducting internal and external environmental scans, setting organizational goals and objectives, identifying resources needed, and assessing key stakeholders.
Management of Programs and Resources
  • With the support of board volunteers, lead the implementation of business plan objectives, strategies, and priorities, as identified in the Strategic Plan
  • Coordinating stakeholder input, committee and Board review and creation of Policies.
  • Recommending Operational Policies to the Board and overseeing the preparation of procedure statements for Operational Policies.
  • Managing the Association\'s fiscal and volunteer human resources to ensure the effective use of resources in meeting business plan objectives and sustainability of the Association.
  • Overseeing government grants, research and apprenticeship programs
  • Providing administrative support to the Board and committees.
Delineation of Responsibility
  • The Executive Director reports to the Chair through the Board of Directors.
  • The Executive Director supports the Board\xe2\x80\x99s development of strategic priorities and communications.
  • The Executive Director retains responsibility for operating decisions, including operating within a Board approved work plan and operating budget. Operating collaboratively with the Board, the Executive Director is expected to act transparently and with ongoing reporting to the Board of Directors.
  • Speaking on behalf of the Association and authorizing expenditures following the Operating Policies.

  • Strong marketing, public relations, and fundraising experience with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders.

  • A persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills
  • Strong organizational abilities including people management, issue management, planning, delegating, program development and task facilitation
  • Act as a strategic thinker with proven skills to formulate an approach to address issues and secure necessary resources.
  • Honest, trustworthy while being determined, resilient and committed to long-term successful advocacy through mutually beneficial partnerships.
  • Proven ability to collaborate, successfully bringing diverse views together to build collaborative relationships and the ability to deliver and evaluate results.
  • Adept skills in business planning, budgeting, and financial acumen.
  • Passionate about the Association\xe2\x80\x99s vision, mission and purpose.
Experience
  • 5 to 7 years of overall professional experience, with at least 3 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in management.
  • Proven leadership, coaching and relationship management experience.
  • Experience managing an association, specifically a non-profit association is preferred.
  • Experience in board relationships, business operations, change management, financial stability and sustainability, data analytics, human resources, communication and relationship building is preferred.
  • Must be able to obtain a clear criminal record check and advanced security check.
  • Proven experience in fundraising
  • Proven success in directing and executing advocacy.
  • Openness to others\xe2\x80\x99 ideas, recognize the wisdom of members
  • Ability to interface and engage diverse volunteer and donor groups
  • Past success working with a Board of Directors with the ability to cultivate existing board member relationships
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent Salary: $90,000.00-$130,000.00 per year Benefits:
