About Us

The Executive Council Office (ECO) leads the execution of government\'s mandate and ensures alignment of priorities through objective analysis and advice to the Executive Council (Cabinet) and its committees. ECO supports Cabinet by facilitating government\'s decision-making process; delivering clear direction to departments; developing and advancing corporate priorities and plans; and providing corporate leadership for agencies, boards, and commissions. ECO also provides operational support to the Office of the Premier and operates the Nova Scotia Gift Bank.

About Our Opportunity

As an Executive Correspondence Coordinator, you will be responsible for managing the corporate executive correspondence system and coordinate all incoming and outgoing correspondence, including routing of response requests to all government departments, on behalf of the Office of the Premier.

Primary Accountabilities

Some of the primary accountabilities of the role include:

  • Management and tracking of all incoming and outgoing correspondence (external from various stakeholders and internal to government) by coordinating the overall response including recording, routing, follow up on outstanding issues, and preparing the correspondence for signature, scanning, and filing;
  • Provide training to all departmental ministerial correspondence coordinators regarding protocols and processes and required content for Premier\'s Office correspondence, logging of invitations and meeting requests into the events management system and coordinating event planning with Ministers who may be assigned to attend an event in the Premier\'s absence;
  • Draft correspondence, proclamations, and messages of welcome on behalf of the Office of the Premier; and
  • Other administrative duties may be required.
Qualifications and Experience

This may be the right opportunity for you if you graduated from a recognized secretarial course or have a Business or Office Administration Diploma and at least two years of administrative experience in a public sector or legal environment. An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered.

Strong time management skills with an ability to prioritize under tight deadlines are required. Exceptional communication and relationship building skills are necessary to liaise with key departmental representatives and the public.

As the ideal candidate you must be able to analyze situations thoroughly and solve problems independently. You have a high degree of professionalism, tact and diplomacy and demonstrate a high level of confidentiality. You have previous experience exercising sound judgment and maintaining a high degree of attention to detail. Proficiency with MS Office and web-based applications are required.

Additional Information

This is a Temporary fourteen (14) month opportunity with an anticipated end date of August 26, 2024. The appointment status (temporary) is dependent on the start date of the successful candidate.

Pay Grade: EC 05

Salary Range: $1,874.72 - $2,343.39 Bi-Weekly
