Full-time, permanent position, working 75 hours bi-weekly

Annual salary range $ 93,064.28 - $124,085.69

What\'s this position about?

The Executive Committee Manager is responsible for strategically managing and leading YESAB\'s Executive Committee (EC) team in completing thorough, credible, and defensible environmental assessments of major projects in the Yukon. This position is the liaison between the Executive Committee and the Executive Director and is responsible for ensuring that both parties are apprised of emerging issues and trends.

What will I be doing?

You will be contributing to the enthusiastic and lively work culture of YESAB and will be located in the Whitehorse Head Office. You will be managing all aspects of the Executive Committee team, including human and financial resources. The EC Manager leads the onboarding of new Executive Committee staff and members, and ensures the team has the skills and capacity to effectively manage the assessment of major projects.

The Executive Committee Manager is responsible for:

  • Managing the Executive Committee project portfolio to ensure that scope, schedule, and budget targets are met.
  • Managing the Executive Committee team to ensure each project assessment is strategically managed and executed in accordance with YESAA and YESAB policies and procedures.
  • Providing recommendations to the Executive Committee pertaining to the environmental and socio-economic assessment of major projects in the Yukon.
  • Providing recommendations, guidance, and training to YESAB members and staff pertaining to the Executive Committee\'s process, legislation, and procedures.
  • Ensuring that that Executive Committee assessment processes are inclusive and minimizes barriers to participation through outreach and communication.
  • Ensuring that First Nations, communities, proponents, and the public are appropriately engaged in EC processes.
  • Ensuring that documents issued by the Executive Committee comply with YESAA and YESAB guidance, and that reasons for decisions are informed, defensible and clearly articulated.
  • Coordinating assessment staff, technical support and other resources to support the Executive Committee.
  • Budgeting expenditures within approved budget.
What knowledge, skills and abilities do I need for this role?

Having a degree in Environmental Science, Social Science or a similar degree, with general knowledge of Yukon Environment and Socio-economic Assessment Act, as well as Yukon First Nations and First Nations Agreements, is required. In addition, experience with supervision and/or management of teams is necessary.

Experience briefing decision makers/board members and developing recommendations for their consideration would be a preference for the EC Manager. In addition, strong knowledge of environmental and socio-economic effects assessment methods, techniques and practices will contribute to the success of this position. Finally, knowledge of the theories and principles of natural sciences (such as biology, geology, chemistry, hydrology, civil engineering), social and economic sciences, industrial processes, and other related disciplines to assess development projects would be a strong preference to excel and support the collective YESAB team.
