The TELUS Government Affairs team in western Canada builds strong relationships with provincial governments and other stakeholders to advocate for effective partnerships that result in better outcomes for the people of Canada, and BC and Alberta specifically. As Executive Engagement Manager - Government Relations, you will join a diverse team, focused on developing and delivering on TELUS\' Western Canadian GR strategy. Reporting to the Director, BC Government Affairs, you will help TELUS executives represent the company to a variety of government and stakeholder groups in BC, advocating for advanced connectivity, TELUS\' social purpose and advancing our business development objectives.

Here\'s how

  • Create and deliver on a strategy for managing, tracking and reporting on TELUS executive engagement with stakeholders on public policy matters.
  • Make sure executives are well briefed and informed with the latest research and collateral material, supporting TELUS public policy positions
  • Work with key stakeholders including TELUS regional General Managers, subject matter experts, and other team members to coach and support engagement of elected officials, public servants, political staff and stakeholder groups
  • Be diligent in follow up with internal TELUS representatives to capture, synthesize and collate outcomes from engagements, and represent those in compelling and easy to digest internal reports for senior leadership.
  • Create concise and engaging documents focused on communicating complex ideas in an easy to understand way for an external audience, as well as internal communications that share the accomplishments of the team in a similar way.

  • You possess superior knowledge of public affairs and political communication best practices, and an ability to understand complex political and policy matters and communicate these in a simplified manner.
  • You are well-known for your ability to quickly learn and apply new concepts and your aptitude for managing high volume workloads while paying close attention to details.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with expertise in preparing PowerPoint or Google presentations for executive-level audiences.
  • 5 years\' experience in a project management, client services, government affairs, communications or operations role in a corporate, professional services, government or political setting preferred.
  • Post-secondary degree in Business, Public Administration, Political Science, or Communications preferred.
Great-to-haves
  • Familiarity with current telecommunication service delivery opportunities and challenges in BC and Alberta
  • Awareness of emerging developments in telecommunications technology and their application to various products, services and applications
  • In-depth knowledge of the Government of BC and Government of Alberta, as well as the interplay between the various levels of government and key stakeholder groups
  • Location: BC or Alberta (Primarily work from home, with occasional work related travel required)
