Executive Chef Position open in busy small tourist town
Location: Thornbury, Ontario (Town of the Blue Mountains)
We are in search of an Executive Chef to manage kitchen operations at two locations. Our restaurants are located in a small but vibrant tourist town with four seasons of recreation. We cater to locals, tourists, and second homeowners. We recognize that our employees are our best assets and invest in creating a safe and healthy work environment. Both locations have a Sous Chef in place. Training for this position will be managed by the existing Chef to make the transition easy.
The Corner Cafe & Grill: Busy lunch/dinner/live music venue with approximately 100 in winter & 140 seats with patio. PRIMARY FOCUS
Brunchie Modern Diner: Brunch venue with 50 seats indoors and 20 seats outdoors. SECONDARY FOCUS: Inventories and orders, menu creation. But day to day operations run themselves
Executive Chef Responsibilities:
Ensuring promptness, freshness, and quality of dishes.
Coordinating cooks' tasks.
Implementing hygiene policies and examining equipment for cleanliness.
Designing new recipes, planning menus, and selecting plate presentations.
Reviewing staffing levels to meet service, operational, and financial objectives.
Hiring and training kitchen staff, such as cooks, food preparation workers, and dishwashers.
Performing administrative tasks, taking stock of food and equipment supplies, and doing purchase orders.
Setting and monitoring performance standards for staff and scheduling.
Obtaining feedback on food and service quality, and handling customer problems and complaints.
Executive Chef Requirements:
5+ years of experience in a similar position.
Knowledge of COGs and the ability to control them
Advanced knowledge of food professional principles and practices.
Proficient knowledge of human resources management.
Excellent knowledge of BOH systems, ordering and inventory (Navi)
Excellent communication skills.
Chef is expected to work alongside staff on-line
Ability to meet deadlines and work well in stressful and demanding scenarios
Expertise in analytical thinking and creative problem solving
Drivers license & vehicle a plus
Food Safety Certificate
WHMIS & First Aid a plus
Must be legally authorized to work in Canada
Compensation:
$75K - $95K depending on experience (44hrs/week)
Full Benefits after probation period
