Position Summary
Mission Villas is seeking a hands-on, community-minded Executive Chef who will lead the culinary program under the guidance of the General Manager. This role is ideal for a chef who values resident choice, enjoys engaging directly with residents, and takes pride in creating consistent, high-quality meals in a hospitality-focused independent living setting. The Executive Chef will oversee daily kitchen operations while working collaboratively with community leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and oversee daily meals that reflect resident preferences, choice, and quality
Develop menus that balance fresh ingredients, comfort favourites, and seasonal variety
Accommodate dietary preferences and allergies as requested by residents
Maintain high standards of food safety, sanitation, and WorkSafeBC compliance
Manage ordering, inventory, and food costs responsibly
Engage with residents through conversation, feedback, and community events
Plan and deliver special meals, celebrations, and holiday events
Qualifications
Experience as an Executive Chef, Head Chef, or similar leadership role
Background in hospitality, independent living, or community dining preferred
Strong understanding of scratch cooking and menu planning
FoodSafe Level 2 certification
Positive leadership style and strong communication skills
Appreciation for working in a resident-driven, hospitality-focused environment
