We are seeking an experienced and innovative Executive Chef to lead our culinary team and continue to evolve and elevate the member experience across all areas of the Club.

Position Overview



Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Executive Chef is responsible for all culinary operations at the Club, including:

A la carte restaurant and lounge dining Club events and tournaments Weddings and private functions Member social events Seasonal and on-course offerings
The Executive Chef will provide strong and inspiring leadership in the kitchen, delivering consistently excellent food quality while fostering a culture of teamwork, professionalism, and accountability. They will oversee budgeting processes, maintain financial performance goals, and ensure the culinary program reflects Earl Grey's standards and EARL values.
The successful candidate will be an exceptional communicator and leader capable of motivating a diverse team and collaborating effectively across all areas of the Club.

Key Responsibilities



Culinary Leadership & Menu Development



Develop, test, and execute creative, seasonal menus and features that appeal to a diverse membership. Ensure food quality, presentation, and consistency meet or exceed Club standards. Incorporate member feedback, dining trends, and cost considerations into menu planning. Support special events with thoughtfully designed menus that enhance the overall experience.

Operations & Financial Management



Oversee day-to-day kitchen operations, including line execution, prep, and service. Manage food and labour costs within budget targets, including ordering, inventory control, and waste reduction. Develop and maintain systems for recipe costing, portion control, and production planning. Collaborate with the General Manager and Management Team on annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-term F&B strategy.

People & Culture



Lead, mentor, and develop a positive kitchen culture aligned with EARL values. Recruit, train, schedule, and evaluate culinary team members to ensure high performance and engagement. Foster a safe, respectful, and inclusive work environment with clear communication and expectations. Work collaboratively with the Food & Beverage leadership team to ensure seamless service and a strong FOH/BOH relationship.

Member Experience & Service Excellence



Ensure timely, consistent, and high-quality food service across all outlets and events. Maintain visibility with members and respond to feedback with professionalism and care. Support and enhance Club events, theme nights, tournaments, and celebrations through thoughtful culinary design. Uphold and model the Club's service philosophy: Warm Welcome, Personalized Service, Fond Farewell.

Health, Safety & Compliance



Ensure full compliance with all health, safety, sanitation, and food handling regulations. Maintain clean, organized, and well-functioning kitchen facilities and equipment. Develop and enforce kitchen policies, procedures, and standards that reflect industry best practices and Club expectations.

Qualifications



Red Seal Chef certification or equivalent required. Minimum 5-7 years of progressive culinary leadership experience in private clubs, hotels, resorts, or high-end restaurants. Proven success managing multi-outlet or high-volume operations, including banquets and a la carte service. Strong financial acumen with demonstrated experience managing food and labour costs. Excellent leadership, communication, and team-building skills. A passion for hospitality, food, and service, with a member- and guest-focused mindset. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays during the golf season.
