The Legal Services Branch (LSB) is the official legal advisor to the government of British Columbia and is charged with ensuring the administration of public affairs is carried out in accordance with the law. LSB assists in fulfilling the Attorney General\xe2\x80\x99s role as set out under the Attorney General Act. LSB provides a shared service to its clients, which include all government ministries, the Attorney General, Cabinet, some Crown corporations and public agencies. Each law group within the Branch has unique accountabilities, and the groups work as a team to support government. Legal Services Branch is made up of approximately 200 lawyers and 300 professional staff. The Office of the Assistant Deputy Attorney General (ADAG) provides, manages and delivers civil legal services to all ministries and some agencies of the Government of British Columbia. The ADAG provides support on civil legal issues to the Attorney General in the Attorney General\xe2\x80\x99s role as the Chief Law Office of the province. The ADAG\xe2\x80\x99s Office deals with the Premier\'s Office, central agencies, all government ministries, Crown corporations and private sector lawyers on matters relating to legal advice, legal representation and the delivery of legal services. The ADAG reports to the Deputy Attorney General, who is the senior lawyer of government.
To provide secretarial and administrative services to the ADAG an officially recognized ADM equivalent, the Chief of Legal Strategy (CLS) and the Chief of Legal Operations (CLO) and other legal counsel within the Office of the ADAG.

Job Requirements:

  • Certificate in a related area (office administration, legal administration or other related area) or a combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of one year experience working in an administrative role.
  • Experience managing a demanding calendar: determining priorities and urgent situations; scheduling and coordinating appointments, meetings and travel; and compiling meeting materials.
Preference may be given to candidates with:
  • Experience in a legal environment.
  • Experience working in an executive office.
  • Experience working with Cliff and eApprovals.
  • Experience formatting and proofreading a variety of documents, including confidential correspondence, briefing notes, memos, detailed reports and presentations.
  • Experience with ARCs and ORCs.
  • Experience responding to Freedom of Information Requests.
  • Knowledge of government and ministry structure and decision-making processes and ministry programs, policies and priorities.
  • Proficiency with the MS Office suite of programs, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
