Project Details
  • Location: Edmonton, AB
  • Start Date: May 2, 2023
  • Duration: 2 years or until construction is completed
  • Shift: Monday to Friday, 10 hours per day. Additional hours may be required during peak construction and tunnelling.
Your Opportunity with Michels Canada

Michels Canada is a union contractor primarily seeking experienced and qualified members from across Canada, but all qualified applications are being considered.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and promote a strong safety culture for all employees, vendors, and customers and follow all safety policies, procedures, and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions.
  • Operate various models of modern hydraulic excavators, mini excavator, skid steer, tandem dump truck and loader.
  • Effectively change bucket heads and attachments as needed.
  • Operate equipment safely in adverse terrain such as confined spaces, congested urban workspaces, and in varied weather conditions with extreme caution and awareness of potential hazards to ensure site safety.
  • Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections, maintain equipment checklist, identify, and report any maintenance concerns with the equipment.
  • Must be comfortable working in various weather conditions.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Minimum 5 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience operating excavator in an urban environment.
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces
  • Must be able to work in shaft 6.5 meters in diameter and 20+ meters below grade
  • Experience operating one or more of the following excavator models: John Deere 250,470,670, CAT 336, 349, 374 models.
  • Previous experience with tunneling, sewer or wastewater construction.
  • First Aid is an asset but not required.
  • Class 3 license is an asset but not required.
  • Employment conditional on successful completion of required safety training and site access requirements.
  • Language of work: English.
