Founded in 1997 and conveniently located at Granville Island, Vancouver's urban oasis for food and culture, Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts has consistently ranked as one of the Canada's best culinary centres for food and wine. Our stunning private event space, Blue Hat Bistro and Bakery-Cafe can accommodate groups from 10 to 90 people in our marina side dining room and patio with city and mountain views. Customized guest experiences can range from team building competitions and cooking classes, to wine focused dinners and one-of-a-kind celebrations.

We are seeking a highly organized and dynamic

Event Sales Manager

to oversee the planning and execution of various events. The ideal candidate is driven and passionate about creating, generating and closing sales opportunities. A background in hospitality or restaurant management is preferred. This role requires exceptional sales skills and techniques, great time management, negotiation abilities, and effective communication skills to ensure that every event runs smoothly and exceeds the expectations of clients and attendees.

Responsibilities



Sales & Business Development:



Drive sales growth of the event space and related experiences. Actively generate new business via telemarketing, cold calling, networking, trade shows, and sales blitzes. Respond promptly to inquiries to convert prospects into confirmed sales and consistently exceed monthly targets

Marketing & Client Engagement:



Collaborate with the marketing team to develop and implement strategies (social media, targeted calls, etc.). Build strong relationships with potential clients by understanding their needs and delivering tailored event solutions.

Event Planning & Execution:



Oversee the full event process--from initial consultation, site tours, and menu planning to contract negotiations, budgeting, logistics, and on-site supervision. Ensure seamless coordination with internal teams (e.g., kitchen, service staff) and external vendors for outstanding event execution and customer service.

Operations & Reporting:



Coordinate with all departments to meet client expectations and maintain service continuity. Manage billing and payment processing in collaboration with the Finance Director. Conduct post-event evaluations, prepare regular sales reports, and monitor market trends to identify improvement opportunities.

Additional Responsibilities:



Assist with internal events and other duties as needed, adapting to evolving priorities during peak demand.

Qualifications

& Experience



Post-secondary diploma or degree (or equivalent experience) in hospitality, hotel, or restaurant management. 3+ years of sales experience, ideally within hotel, restaurant, or catering operations, with proven event sales management or related hospitality experience preferred. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) Experience with CRM and catering software Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite or Canva is a bonus. Self-driven with a strong focus on meeting sales targets and a proactive approach to cold calling. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to provide superior customer service. Skilled in negotiating with vendors and service providers. Strong knowledge of food and hospitality. Extensive contacts within the community to help expand and strengthen the client base. Excellent attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under pressure. Working knowledge of sales forecasting and financial reporting.
