Event Operations Lead

The Role
As a Lead Event Services Crew Member, you'll take a hands-on role in the setup and dismantling of trade shows, conventions, and special events. You'll guide a crew through installation work, solve problems on the fly, and make sure everything comes together smoothly on the show floor. The work is physical, fast-paced, and changes everyday ideal for someone who enjoys being active, working with their hands, and taking ownership of event outcomes.
This role blends installation skill with people leadership. You'll support planning ahead of events, lead crews onsite, and keep communication clear between your team, warehouse staff, and client-facing teams.
A flexible schedule is required, including some evenings and weekends based on event timing.
Key Responsibilities
Event Setup & Installation
Lead crews in setting up and dismantling event structures, exhibitor booths, staging, signage, and decor.
Interpret floorplans, manuals, and drawings to ensure accurate installations.
Operate and guide use of material handling tools such as pallet jacks and forklifts.
Ensure all equipment and displays are clean, aligned, and in ready-to-show condition.
Crew Leadership
Act as Show Lead for multiple events, ensuring on-site operations run smoothly.
Provide direction, coaching, and support to Event Services Crew Members during onsite work.
Keep the crew informed of any timeline or operational changes during setup and dismantle.
Train team members on safe work practices, quality standards, and efficient installation techniques.
Help maintain a positive, respectful, and productive team environment.
Logistics & Coordination
Support pre-event planning, including load lists, equipment checks, and installation timelines.
Coordinate equipment movement onsite and support freight handling when required.
Work closely with the warehouse team and Operations Manager to make sure materials are prepared and accurate for each event.
Inventory & Equipment Support
Support the organization and upkeep of local inventory, including carpet and event materials.
Help maintain inventory tracking systems so event equipment is accurate, available, and in good condition.
Monitor supply levels (e.g., carpet tape, staples, shrink wrap, freight stickers) and communicate replenishment needs.
Assist with returning, cleaning, and restocking equipment and materials after events.
Onsite Support
Serve as a friendly and knowledgeable point of contact for clients during setup.
Help resolve onsite challenges with a problem-solving mindset.
Escalate concerns or complex issues to the Operations Manager when needed.
Safety, Documentation & Policy Support
Promote and follow safe work procedures at all times.
Support incident reporting and ensure all safety and internal policies are consistently followed on the jobsite.
Skills & Qualifications
Experience in event installation, trades, or a similar hands-on work environment.
Demonstrated leadership ability; comfortable giving direction and coaching others.
Ability to read floorplans, diagrams, or technical setup instructions.
Skilled using hand and power tools.
Able to lift up to 50 lbs and work on your feet for extended periods.
Strong communication skills and a calm, solutions-focused approach onsite.
Forklift certification (or willingness to obtain).
Valid driver's license considered an asset.
Carpentry, staging, or signage/graphics installation experience is an advantage.

Pay: $27.00-$30.00 per hour
