Country Heritage Park (CHP) is an 80-acre site in Milton, Ontario, owned and operated by the Country Heritage Agricultural Society (CHAS). Our mission is to connect people with agriculture, heritage, and community through education, events, and shared experiences. With a mix of heritage buildings, event venues, and agricultural programming, CHP hosts weddings, corporate events, school programs, and signature community events that bring thousands of visitors together each year.

About the Role



The Event Manager will be responsible for leading the event department, overseeing the Event Coordinator and casual event staff, and working closely with CHP's leadership team and catering partners. This is a hands-on, fast-paced role for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment, has strong financial acumen, and knows how to balance creativity with structure to deliver excellent client and community experiences.

The schedule will vary based on the event calendar. Some weeks will include multiple event days (often Friday through Sunday), while other weeks may be quieter. Flexibility is essential, with weekend availability expected.

Key Responsibilities


Lead the restructuring and development of event systems, processes, and best practices.

Supervise and mentor the Event Coordinator, bartenders, and event support staff.

Create and manage schedules for all event staff (bartenders, coordinators, security, and support staff), ensuring appropriate coverage while balancing labour costs with budget constraints.

Build an organized event calendar and scheduling system that ensures efficient resource allocation.
Increase bookings and program revenue through effective sales strategies, pricing, and package development.

Create and adhere to event budgets, ensuring financial sustainability and ROI for all events.

Negotiate with vendors and partners to secure cost-effective, high-quality services.

Event Planning & Delivery

Oversee the design, coordination, and execution of all event-based programs and signature CHP events.

Ensure seamless client and guest experiences by managing all logistics from booking through event day.

Collaborate with the Education Coordinator and other departments to integrate events with CHP's broader programming.
Maintain accurate records, send contracts, track inventory, and implement ordering schedules.

Analyze event ROI, create reports, and contribute to program evaluation and improvement.

Manage communication for event inquiries, bookings, volunteers, and co-op placements in a timely and professional manner.

Serve as the primary liaison between CHP and catering partners, vendors, and community partners.

Represent CHP in a professional, positive manner that reflects our mission and values.

Support marketing and communications related to event programming.

Other Duties

Carry out other tasks as requested by the CEO to strengthen the event department.

What You Bring



Minimum 3+ years of management experience in events, hospitality, or a related field.

Proven success in growing revenue, managing budgets, and creating new operational systems.

Experience building and leading a team, including setting priorities and delegating effectively.

Hands-on experience with staff scheduling and labour cost management to ensure efficient coverage while staying within budget.

Strong organizational and communication skills.

Creative mindset with excellent attention to detail and a track record of developing new event ideas.

Knowledge of inventory control, vendor ordering processes, and cost-of-goods tracking.

Proficiency in Excel, Adobe, and Outlook.

Smart Serve certified.

Comfortable working evenings and weekends according to event needs.
