Job Description

The Lieutenant Governor is the personal representative in the province of the Queen in Canada. As such, the position is not only the Chief Executive Officer of the government but is also the embodiment of the Crown in British Columbia.

The Office of the Lieutenant Governor and Government House itself is multi-dimensional, supporting several distinct lines of business including constitutional and international protocol matters, ceremonial and hospitality events, and the management and maintenance of Government House as a National Historic Site.

The Office of the Lieutenant Governor is managed and maintained by staff and others, who coordinate constitutional, ceremonial, protocol, diplomatic, administrative, and operational activities at Government House and other locations. Special events vary in scope and significance, and average about 100 occasions per year.

JOB SUMMARY



Reporting to the Hospitality Services Manager, the Dishwasher is responsible for performing a variety of Industrial cleaning, sanitation, and storage duties in the kitchen areas. This includes but is not limited to: all heavy-duty equipment, stainless steel counters, grilles, refrigerators, hotboxes, ventilation filters, oil fryers, dishwasher machinery parts, walls, floors, ceiling and ovens.

SCHEDULE



As and when required, based on Government House event schedule Hourly rate commensurate with experience

ACCOUNTABILITIES



Performs the daily cleaning and sanitation according to schedule and as necessity arises

Monitors and maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of assigned work areas

Sets up and monitors usage of dishwashing machine and chemicals to minimize consumption of water and chemicals

Cleans and sanitizes pots, pans, utensils, and other kitchen equipment

Properly washes, stacks, and stores china, glassware, silverware, cookware, and storage containers

Inspects the cleanliness and condition of all washed wares and rewash wares not meeting standards

Maintains clean and dry floors throughout the shift

Use designated chemicals, supplies and equipment to clean various floor surfaces (brooms, mops, etc.)

Manages trash cans throughout shift, removing full trashcans and boxes at the end of each shift
Assists in Buffet area with an enthusiastic attitude and ability to work well under pressure with bussers, cooks, and other staff

Required to wear food service safety gear

KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS



Must be able to exert physical effort in transporting up to 50 pounds, endure various physical movements throughout the work areas, reach up and down, remain stationary at times throughout work periods
Knowledge of basic sanitation and safety policies and procedures regarding food handling

Knowledge of different forms of Cleaning and Polishing process

Working knowledge and adherence to MSDS and WHMIS guidelines

Previous experience cleaning an industrial kitchen or commercial food service facility considered an asset

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS



Must be of legal age (19 years old) to serve alcohol

Successful completion of security screening requirements, including a criminal records check

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $22.00-$24.00 per hour

Work Location: In person
