Kitchen Steward (Receiver / Lead Dishwasher / Dishwasher Supervisor)

, where you'll play a vital role in keeping our kitchen running smoothly! With a focus on cleanliness, organization, and efficiency, you'll be responsible for maintaining a spotless work environment, receiving and stocking deliveries, and ensuring dishes and kitchen tools are always ready for action. As a key support to both the front and back of house teams, your attention to detail and hard work will help create an exceptional experience for our guests. Key Accountabilities:



Lead and Oversee Operations:

Ensure the dish area is fully operational at all times, with all equipment in safe working order and all cleaning agents properly stocked and stored.

Scheduling & Coverage:

Create and manage schedules for the dish and receiver team to ensure adequate coverage across shifts, balancing workload and labour efficiency.

Training & Development:

Train new and existing team members on safe and efficient operation of dishwashing equipment, cleaning procedures, and chemical handling. Continuously coach and mentor staff to uphold high standards.

Performance Management:

Conduct regular check-ins and performance reviews with stewarding team members, providing feedback, recognizing strong performance, and addressing areas for improvement in a supportive manner.

Standards & Compliance:

Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment at all times in accordance with company policies, health and safety standards, and local regulations.

Preventative Maintenance:

Monitor the condition of dishwashing equipment and coordinate with maintenance or management for timely repairs to minimize downtime.

Deep Cleaning Leadership:

Oversee and participate in the deep cleaning of all kitchen and storage areas, ensuring completion of daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning checklists.

Safety & Hazard Prevention:

Promote and enforce safe work practices by ensuring proper signage is used when floors are wet or equipment is out of order, and that all staff are trained in chemical safety.

Inventory & Supplies Management:

Track and replenish cleaning supplies, ensuring cost-effective usage and readiness for service.

Communication & Collaboration:

Maintain strong working relationships with kitchen and front-of-house leadership to ensure smooth service operations and shared accountability for cleanliness and efficiency.

End-of-Day Oversight:

Verify that all closing duties are completed meticulously, with all areas spotless, sanitized, and equipment properly shut down and stored.

Culture & Team Engagement:

Foster a positive and inclusive team environment where cooperation, accountability, and pride in work are consistently demonstrated.

What we would like you to bring to the position:



Receiver, Cleaning or dishwashing experience considered an asset Experience and knowledge of food preparation and kitchen maintenance is beneficial Demonstrated ability to work independently, multitask and prioritize tasks Willingly accept additional tasks as required for the effective functioning of the work unit Take direction and instruction well from the management teams Strong organizational skills to maintain a clean and tidy kitchen and work space Confidently operate an industrial dishwash machine Ability to tolerate standing for long periods of time Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs Work in a fast-paced environment Ability to work weekends and overnight

Compensation

:

Compensation for this role is estimated at $25.50/hour, which includes a base wage of $22/hour plus direct tips from guests. Tip amounts are paid directly by guests and are expected to average approximately $3.5/hour, though actual amounts will vary depending on factors such as guest volume and seasonality. While tips are not guaranteed, they can be a meaningful part of overall earnings in this position.
