Job Summary
Are you an individual between 15-30 years of age who is passionate about cultural celebration, community engagement, and event planning? Elmastukwek Mawi'omi Inc. is seeking an enthusiastic and organized Event Coordinator to help bring the 2025 Elmastukwek Mawio'mi to life! This is an exciting opportunity to work with local l'nu communities, Elders, artists, and volunteers to create a vibrant and inclusive cultural gathering.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and coordinate workshops, cultural activities, and event logistics
Work with Elders, participants, and guests to ensure respectful cultural representation
Support administration, including funding applications and reports
Promote the event through social media, newsletters, and community outreach
Build partnerships with local organizations to strengthen engagement and fundraising
What We're Looking For:
Strong organizational and communication skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Experience in event planning and/or community engagement
Familiarity with Mi'kmaw culture and traditions is a strong asset
Self-motivated with problem-solving skills and initiative
Physically able to assist with event set-up and logistics
Must have access to personal transportation
Criminal Record Check & Vulnerable Sector Check required
Working Conditions:
Office and outdoor settings
Mix of desk work, community engagement, and physical event setup
Some evening and weekend work required
