Chic Celebrations NL & Chic Socials | St. John's, NL

Chic Celebrations NL (weddings + event decor) and Chic Socials (creative workshops, wellness events, and community-focused social experiences) are hiring an Event Assistant. We are looking for someone creative and reliable who enjoys hands-on work, aesthetics, and bringing event concepts to life. This role involves event setup, decor installation, workshop prep, guest check-in, basic content creation, and general support throughout events.

The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys design, visual arts, brand aesthetics, or marketing. Students or graduates in programs such as marketing, visual arts, design (interior, graphic, multimedia), event management, or communications are strongly encouraged to apply. You must be comfortable interacting with guests, working efficiently under timelines, and maintaining a polished event presentation.

Responsibilities include:

Setting up decor, tablescapes, workshop stations, and helping with teardown Loading and unloading supplies and equipment (requires lifting up to 50 lbs) Running errands such as pickups or drop-offs (must be able to drive) Checking in guests upon arrival and providing a welcoming, friendly experience Assisting with basic sales during events (merch, upgrades, future workshops) Capturing behind-the-scenes content for social media (photos + video) Supporting planning and prep leading up to events
We're looking for someone who is organized, punctual, friendly, and comfortable working independently when needed. Strong customer service skills are important. Creativity and an eye for design are major assets we love someone who notices the details.

Bonus experience (not required, but highly valued):

Barista or cafe experience (great for our coffee-based events) Content creation (Reels, TikTok, photography, videography) Art, design, or marketing background (schooling or practical experience)
Requirements:

Ability to lift 50 lbs Access to a vehicle and valid driver's license Comfortable working evenings and weekends (event-based schedule) Enjoys creative environments and problem-solving
