Air System Supplies is seeking a qualified mechanical estimator to join our sales team, with a specific focus on mechanical estimating. We are looking for someone with a technical background who is eager to grow their expertise in this field. Collaboration with customers, suppliers, and internal staff is crucial to success in this role. Ideal candidates will have relevant experience in HVAC, Sheet Metal, Mechanical/Plumbing, Electrical services, or another aspect of construction, bidding, or estimating. The goal of an estimator is to promote sales of mechanical equipment, grilles and other related products. Estimators are tasked with accurately and efficiently reviewing take-off plans, and itemizing products and equipment in preparation for quoting. Attending industry events from time to time, and visiting customer locations are essential to developing and maintaining customer relationships.
Ideal candidates must possess the ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced team-friendly environment alongside their peers. Quick learners that are adaptable will achieve long-term success. Meeting deadlines while providing top-notch customer service are cornerstones of being an estimator at Air System Supplies.
Responsibilities:
Creating 'Material Take Off' items from mechanical and HVAC drawings.
Complete engineered submittal packages primarily for mechanical equipment in addition to commercial grilles/registers/diffusers (GRD)
Reading, understanding, and confirming job specifications and requirements with Customers
Project management once successful job tenders have been awarded
Cross-referencing products from other manufacturers
Preparing job bids in a timely manner using suppliers' software and price lists
Ensure invoices are processed on a regular basis with correct and accurate pricing
Assist with customer sales, order desk, and answering technical calls
Scheduling, prioritizing, and managing bid requests
Sending out and delivering quotations by phone and/or email to our customers
Confirming products, sizes and quantities required for completion of projects
Submitting purchase orders to suppliers for project materials
Positive attitude, exemplary attendance, and a passion for providing exceptional customer service.
Maintain accurate records of all quotations and files related to projects
Attend industry and customer events as needed
Recommended Qualifications:
Diploma or equivalent number of years of experience in a similar business environment (a minimum of 2 years of inside sales or estimating).
Proficient with the use of computers, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and internet usage.
Excellent written and communication skills.
Keen attention to detail; as well as strong organizational skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Solid technical, communication, and presentation skills to assist customers with proper HVAC and mechanical equipment selection
The ability to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times.
Excellent organizational, time-management, and prioritizing skills. Resourceful team player who excels at building trusting relationships with customers and colleagues
