Lumber Estimator

to join our team and support our sales, operations, and customer service departments with accurate, timely material takeoffs and cost estimates.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare accurate lumber takeoffs from architectural and structural drawings Estimate materials for decks, fences, garages, framing packages, trusses, and custom builds Work closely with contractors, builders, and homeowners to clarify project requirements Create detailed quotes, cost breakdowns, and material lists for customer orders Review blueprints for completeness and identify potential missing information Communicate with suppliers and internal teams regarding pricing and product availability Assist sales staff with technical product knowledge and material substitutions Maintain organized project files and update estimates as needed

Qualifications

2+ years of experience

in lumber estimating, construction estimating, or a related field Strong understanding of lumber products, building materials, and construction terminology Ability to read and interpret blueprints, framing plans, and structural drawings Proficiency in estimating software or CAD tools (e.g., MiTek, AutoCAD, Bluebeam) is an asset Excellent attention to detail and strong mathematical skills Strong communication and customer service abilities Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects at once
