We are currently seeking an experienced

Estimator

with a strong background in the

Heavy Construction

sector to join our client's team in

Markham, ON

. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in civil, infrastructure, and road construction projects -- not ICI (Institutional, Commercial, Industrial) or building sectors. This is a full-time, permanent role offering an excellent opportunity to work with a well-established construction company known for delivering high-quality infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for heavy construction projects (earthworks, roads, sewers, watermains, bridges, utilities, etc.) Analyze project specifications, drawings, and tender documents to determine material, labor, and equipment requirements Develop and maintain estimating systems, databases, and cost records Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients throughout the bidding process Identify risks and opportunities in project tenders and recommend cost-effective solutions Participate in pre-tender meetings and post-tender negotiations Prepare and submit bid proposals and related documentation within deadlines

Qualifications & Skills

Minimum

5 years of estimating experience

in

Heavy Civil / Infrastructure Construction

(roads, sewers, bridges, utilities, etc.)

Post-secondary education

in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (preferred) Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and tendering processes Proficiency with

estimating software

(e.g., HCSS, HeavyBid, Bid2Win, or similar) Excellent analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills Strong communication and organizational abilities Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines Experience with local market pricing and subcontractor relations is an asset
