is currently seeking an experienced

Construction Estimator (full-time, permanent)

to join our team in Ontario! This is a hybrid role where availability of frequent travel to our offices in Cambridge, ON would be an asset.


The

Construction Estimator

will be responsible for compiling cost estimates for services related to overhead and underground powerline construction. The ideal candidate will have prior experience with determining costs, creating budgets, assessing resource requirements. Additionally, the Construction Estimator will assist with building estimating packages to support competitive bid comparison and contract bids while ensuring profitability.

Key Responsibilities:

Lives Forbes Bros. value of WE WORK SAFE & never compromising on safety in all aspects of our every day Maintain high quality, detailed estimate preparations for submission of the bid / project pricing Maintain quality of information in estimating database Review and compare subcontractor/suppliers quotes as compared to others Analyzing client Request for Proposal (RFP) documents to determine contractual and technical requirements Review bid documentation / drawings to determine project scope requirements and to confirm technical requirements for estimate preparation Perform material take from engineered drawings for procurement purposes as needed Support Senior Estimator with cost estimate preparation, subcontractor management, and supplier/vendor management Monitor and track costing of ongoing projects including comparison of labour and equipment rates within estimate database Estimate market value of products and services ability to manage Liaise and consult with engineers and subcontractors to prepare adjustments to cost estimates Continuing review and improvement of Forbes Bros Ltd. (FBL) estimating processes (i.e., streamline actual cost data evaluation and cost estimate database standardization) Meet estimating goals set for the year Prepare estimates of costs of materials, labour, and equipment for construction projects based on contract bids, quotations, schematic drawings, and specifications Support Senior Estimator with preparation of detailed cost estimates Manage subcontractor process to ensure that quotes are levelled properly Additional related duties as assigned

What We Are Looking For:

Post secondary education in Construction Management or Engineering, or related field

,

is required*(C.E.T / Bachelor's, etc.)
Three (3) plus years' related experience in construction industry cost estimating,

is required*
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Visio, Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point) and Adobe Acrobat Proven multiple projects/activities in a dynamic fast-paced environment Excellent time-management and organizational skills, attention to detail, with a proven ability to meet deadlines Strong verbal communications and negotiation skills Highly effective at building and managing client/vendors relationships Able and willing to accommodate to project and or site schedules and travel to various sites, as required Able and willing to present a valid Driver's License and an acceptable five (5) year Drivers Abstract
