Overview
We are seeking a skilled Estimator specializing in commercial glazing to join our team. This role will work closely with our Sales, Project Management, and Production teams to ensure accurate and competitive project bids, smooth handoffs, and successful project execution. The ideal candidate will have experience in reviewing architectural drawings, preparing detailed estimates, and collaborating with clients and internal teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Pre-Bid & Tendering
Participate in pre-bid site meetings to gather information for accurate estimates.
Interpret and evaluate project drawings, specifications, and technical details.
Prepare detailed take-offs and cost estimates for single-scope and multi-scope projects, including materials, labour, and equipment.
Lead the preparation of tenders and follow up on bid submissions.
Review contracts and quotations for accuracy and completeness.
Project Documentation & Execution:
Draft and issue work orders to support project execution.
Maintain an organized and up-to-date directory of product and material suppliers.
Contribute to internal project handoff meetings for smooth transitions.
Participate in post-project reviews to evaluate performance and identify improvements.
Collaboration & Communication:
Work closely with project manages, architects, engineers, and clients at all levels of project.
Foster strong communication and rapport with internal departments and external stakeholders.
Build and maintain lasting relationships with clients and suppliers, including participation in appreciation and networking events.
Industry Knowledge & Site Work:
Stay current with materials, products, and techniques by attending trade shows, seminars, and manufacturer events.
Conduct job site visits for estimating reviews and safety evaluations as required.
What we're looking for:
Experience & Education
Minimum of 2 years experience in a commercial glazing estimating role.
Some or all of the following: Diploma in Architectural Technology, Construction Engineering Technologies, Estimating Certificate, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Technical Skills
Proficient with Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word), PDF software such as BlueBeam, and industry-specific estimating platforms (PartnerPak, LogiKal, ReynaPro, Etc.).
Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
Personal Attributes
